UCAN opposes City’s current proposed Wastewater Rate Adjustments as he proposed rate increases for industrial and residential wastewater dischargers will disproportionately affect small minority businesses and communities of color by imposing enormous increases.

At the recent City of San Diego budget hearing, UCAN Vice-Chair Wayne Rosenbaum voiced UCAN’s concerns over the Staff Report and recommendations presented concerning the proposed rate increases for industrial and residential wastewater dischargers.  UCAN contended the proposed rate increases disproportionately affect residential home owners, and small businesses by imposing enormous increases over a compressed time frame, with a “one size fits all” fee schedule rather than an actual fee for service.  For UCAN’s complete statement, please go to: UCAN Sewer Rate Increase Statement
