The CEC recently adopted updates to the state’s load management standards that will help shift energy use to times when electricity is cheap, abundant and clean. As of April 1, 2023, PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, SMUD, LADWP, and large community choice aggregators are required to develop retail electricity rates that change at least hourly (a.k.a. dynamic rates) to reflect grid costs and greenhouse gas emissions. This will help incentivize customers to use electricity more efficiently and be able to save money. Learn more here
