Yes UCAN (Save Water)
Now here's a message for all of you Joe Six Packs out there in the Suburbia of this great land...
Question: What would like to do with your personal time on weekends?
A) Mow, trim, fertilize and water the lawn pictured on the left below?
B) Enjoy a six pack while you feast your eyes on the beautiful rock garden on the right?
(Hint: The lawn on the left also incurs significant cost to pay for water, mower repair, gasoline, plant nutrients, as well as medical bills for unforseen injuries associated with upkeep.)
(Correct answer: B)
If you answered 'A', you are finished. Done for. All washed up. Click here now to exit this screen.
If you answered 'B', you are a true Patriot who understands the value of potable drinking water, and we urge you to read on.
While walking the streets of an electoral precinct in Las Vegas one recent weekend in November, 2008, this author could not help but notice the plethora of turf-less front yards adorning the homes. Fully half (50%) of these homes were landscaped with hard, drought-tolerant, beautiful, cactus-accented, six-pack-friendly... ROCK.
Take a look at this sample of creative rockscapes, and rejoice in your correct answer to the above question.
Here's to you, Mr. Rock Garden Front Yard Installer! Enjoy that cold beverage this weekend and every weekend as you lounge on the front porch, and watch your neighbors mow, edge, fertilize, water, and water, and water, and water...
