UCAN Comments to FCC re: Cramming, Truth-in-Billing, and Disclosures
Date of Filing/Decision
UCAN recently filed comments with the FCC following a Notice of Inquiry concerning what actions need to be taken to ensure consumers of wireless, broadband, and video services are well informed about: the costs associated with the services; the contracts consumers must enter into; the charges for which consumers are billed; and the methods for resolving billing issues.
UCAN filed comments in this proceeding explaining that accurate and detailed information in the mobile wireless context includes clarity regarding services and the requisite contractual relationship, clear billing, and best practice standards to help prevent cramming and improved complaint processes to help consumers resolve disputes with service providers.
UCAN's comments address the issues of kiosks, the wireless contracts, bill formating and information, cramming, customer service dispute resolution, and filing complaints with the FCC and the California PUC.
Attached are UCAN's comments filed in the proceeding.
