"New" Consumer web site to help consumers
avoid getting "Scrooged" this holiday season.


Santa may know if you've been naughty or nice, but UCAN's newly designed consumer website can stop you from getting "scrooged" by a fast-talking salesman. And it does so with the use of humorous short-videos and easy to use consumer guides that are designed not only to be read but to actually be given to salespeople.

UCAN becomes the first consumer internet resource in the United States to combine video and interactive web tools to arm consumers. It has redesigned its well-established UCAN.org web page and has also created a new one dedicated to telecommunications issues: www.telenforcers.com.

For the remainder of December, UCAN is offering a free on-line version of its Mobile Phone Plan Checker. According to UCAN's Executive Director, Michael Shames, the four-page Plan Checker stops unwitting cell phone customers from signing up for a bad plan. "Armed with this powerful tool, consumers can identify false sales claims more easily avoid expensive phone ontract gotchas, " says Shames.

One of the new wrinkles in UCAN's website is that the Mobile Phone Plan Checker is accompanied by a two -minute humorous video showing a consumer using the guide to stave off outrageous claims by a cell phone salesman. The new look UCAN web site includes over 13 new short-videos on consumer-related issues, real-life information on potential purchase traps along with valuable complaint resolution resources.

Today, UCAN also unveils www.telenforcers.com, a brand new website packed with dozens of money-saving tips for avoiding a costly cell phone blunders, plus, information on the one thing a consumer must NEVER do when purchasing a mobile phone from a retail location.
