"Strike Back" Telemarketing Script
Click here to get a printable list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. But before you start asking questions, you must "qualify"the company so that you can assert your rights later: If, during the introductory "pitch," the telemarketer indicates that they are representing a non-profit firm, or a survey company, ask them to not call again and hang up immediately. They are not subject to the Federal law.
You cannot bring action against a company if:
They are a non-profit corporation. They are conducting a survey. They are not doing business in your area. In the event this happens to you, you must elicit a frank admission that they are selling something. One of the best ways to do this is to get the company to send you sales literature or an order form. Other companies, once sued, will claim that they are invulnerable to your claim because they are not conducting business in your area. Obviously, if they have called you at home, they are conducting business in your area and are subject to the full force of the law.

you guys should be ashamed of yourself most telemarketing people are only trying to make a living. They are by no means STUPID PEOPLE in this economy really there are not alot of jobs to pick from at least these people are trying to work not on welfare and are actually do a service to most of you why be rude to these people if your broke ass cant afford to buy anything just hang up or be honest and say IM BROKE I CANT BUY ANYTHING YOUR SELLING dont be mad at them because your broke. where are your manners lets sue somebody cause were broke
No shame here
The telemarketer I'm upset with has been calling me every evening between 7pm and 8pm since January 2010. That's over 11 months of harassment every day. I'm more obliging than rude to them. I let them give some of their pitch, then tell them I'm not interested and want them to stop calling. I'm certainly not incapable of affording their service, since they say that "the cellphone they're offering is free" (they just want my social insurance number). I want to sue them to prove a point. Not make money. I don't care if it's a $1.00 settlement. Just so long as it goes on their companies records that they are unscrupulous and willing to bend the laws to harrass people at home.
and another thing
They're calling trying to pitch me a 'free' cellphone, on my current cellphone, that I have solely for emergencies from work or family (so I have to check it even if I was just sleeping because I'm on call and have to wake up at 2-3am some mornings.
All I'm saying is give peace a chance. Let me have a peaceful no-cellphone-call evening for once. (they give me the weekends off at least, but do call every weekday between 7pm and 8pm in the evening).
On the payroll of a
On the payroll of a telemarketer are we???
You speak of manners, where are the manners of the telemarketers calling numbers that are clearly on the Do Not Call List. Where are the manners of being truthful about the fact that they are selling a product? Where are their manners about not calling cell phones (which is 100% illegal)?
I'm not broke, but I wouldn't buy a free product from a telemarketer.
You should learn to use proper punctuation, spelling, grammar and diction. Then maybe you wouldn't be broke without a job sticking up for the scam artists who use telemarketing.
