Free 411 sucksssssssss.............. Does not give you the needed information. The service is annoying. I would not recommended. All i hear is ....I could not understand ............go back. The free 411 is useless.

wow! it sounds like Google has developped another way to work universally?! But indeed I like the idea, it may be useful for some moblie users... Think with such services google will gain many miilliards soon, hehehe...

I had been using google 411 for quite sometime, as of today AT&T wireless have it blocked.
Googled this site and tried 411-save and free-411, both these are blocked as well.
I assume ATT are within their legal rights to do this?
Would a complaint to the FTC do anything?

A bad thing about Free411 is first of all the voice recognition software most times cannot understand the phonetics of the spoken word from a real human being and gets the names all mixed up which leads to much frustration, if you get my meaning. What it really needs is a method for allowing a person to spell out the name or names, not get to fast to jump to conclusions and allow time to spell perhaps several names in sequence, then also it would be a great help to ask the person if they know an address or any other pertinent information about the search for a particular listing. I mean it is so bad that a short name of only 5 or 6 letters is often mistaken for something with a very long name and not even close or related to what you just spoke to the automated system, i.e., "Smith" might be interperited at "Smitharoonie" or some other such thing and not even necessarily starting with an "S" even. It is really crazy trying to get something acrossed to a machine because it just keeps going in circles until you get so upset you have to just hang up!!!! Thanks, Les lescot@sbcglobal.net

Everyone uses directory assitance and I guess its just a matter of what provider you have tried and you believe to be effective and cheap. Reading these blogs I got curious and dialled 1800411save (18004117283) and it works pretty well for me. I got a human being and wasnt charge for the call. And more importantly I got the correct phone number of my friend in Minnesota. So I believe that these people are saying the truth.

As a matter of fact its a big help. I have a bunch of dialled numbers listed on my phone but i cant remember what the numbers are for. Tried to call 411save, asked if they can do a reverse number search and turns out they can. I think it would very helpful specially when receiving prank calls.

Let me give you a clue. Not a single person reading "411SAVE AWESOME!" actually believes that a real person came in and posted just because they were oh so happy with the phone number. Much less that that happened seven times.

Rather, everyone knows that someone is getting paid to post these.

Now let me ask: how does that reflect on the company, when it pays someone to lie about his/her identity in blog comment sections? If companies want to represent themselves online, they can disclose their identities and write with transparency. When a company does the opposite, it's unethical, and has more than just a whiff of desperation.

I checked out the different services above and thought I'd give my $0.02 worth of opinion. Goog-411 and Free-411 sometimes work, but usually after I'm pulling my hair out. The 800-411-SAVE had a person doing the search, just like paid 411 service, that was cool. I prefer the 800-411-SAVE as it is quicker, less frustrating than automation and I think a lot more accurate.

Free 411 is a scam, they send you text messages after you use their system and if you don't respond NO, then you are "automatically" enrolled in costly rip off ring tone scams and things of that nature. DO not use this service, nothing in life is free.
