What SDG&E doesn't want homeowners to know: independent auditors can help customers re-take control over runaway energy use

Getting an energy audit of your home could save on your utility costs, but when UCAN asked SDG&E to post information on home energy auditors on its own web site,  it refused.

Home energy audits may be a wise investment

I think we'd all be very surprised if someone handed us cash representing how much energy is wasted in our homes. Even when we try to be careful of turning off the lights and limiting ther use of our applicances, we're just not trained to recognize where the waste is. In addition to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), there are now businesses out there, that for a fee, will do a thorough inspection of your home and give you recommendations on low-cost -- and not-so-low-cost measures you can take to make your home more energy-efficient.
