Note to City of San Diego - Turn Off Your Sprinklers When It Rains

We are bombarded with higher water rates, told conservation is no longer a real choice and that we're headed for big trouble if we don't sacrifice. If this is truth and not myth, then I have to seriously wonder why I saw public city sprinklers going full blast during one of San Diego's biggest rainfalls.  My thoughts were directed toward my obligation to refrain from a nice long and warm bubble bath while as a ratepayer/tax payer, I'm paying for the City's misuse of water during a heavy rain spell. So, let me get this right.  We're supposed to conserve or pay higher prices and at the same time, the City is not conserving and we're all paying higher prices.  This picture requires some justification.

Was UCAN duped or just unawares by linking to sewerrebate site?

Wanting to know how the "Sewer Rebate" affects me I clicked on the link.  The page it took me was a dead end.  That is, unless I wanted to call a plumbing related service or buy a web domain name.  What is there is a full page of advertising links with no discernable link to the actual information the initial link indicated.  I usually expect UCAN to be straight forward and provide the facts.  And I can understand the need to suppliment the organization's funds with commercial partners, but when it become so blatently a diversion to advertising one must question UCAN's decision.  Maybe a review of conditions these partners have to gain access to UCAN.org's site is due.

Water Rate Increase 2007

The City of San Diego is committed to increasing water and sewer rates for the 2008 fiscal year. The current proposal leaves many questions to be answered regarding rate structure and the disproportionate increase of rates for some customer classes, while others receive reductions.
