Collection Agencies

If you are being harassed by a collection agency, write them a letter or use our form letter (send it certified mail) that says you do not give them permission to call your home, employer, relatives, or neighbors concerning your account. By law, the agency must comply, though they are within their legal rights to hassle you by mail.

I did write a formal letter

I did write a formal letter requesting that they would stop calling my home. But internet is so permissive of them sending you mails that I couldn't get rid of them for good. Really, there should be an efficient internet police.

I am the owner of a small

I am the owner of a small business. I belong to an association that works exclusively with suppliers and distributors who also belong to this industry. The association is reporting information that is false about my company, and some of their information is grossly inaccurate. We have been in business for 15 years.

The so-called credit score that this association has provided to our suppliers has jeopardized our relationship with some suppliers. We have been refused credit, and sometimes we cannot purchase at a fair market value from a particular supplier based in inaccurate information that this association keeps on file. Some suppliers have one standard rate for customers with good credit and one rate for companies with "questionable" credit.

What's worse, in some cases, our suppliers are not basing information on their current experience with us. They are basing it on our credit score with the association. I told one supplier that I never had a problem with them, and their answer was: "based upon the association's credit score, you might be a problem."

We have written to correct the information, but they will not do it. The suppliers who furnish wrong information or who mix up owners and businesses by name, refuse to correct the information, or they make corrections "at their convenience."

We are told that a Private Association does not have to comply with any regulations, and they are not governed by any laws.

I would like to know if this statement is accurate. If they are providing information as important as credit information, shouldn't this association does not have to comply with fair standards and practices laws? They are jeopardizing our ability to make a fair profit, and in general they are jeopardizing our livelihood.

The information is one-sided. Why shouldn't we be given information about a supplier before we place an order for $200,000 or more? Why shouldn't we be given the opportunity to know more about who we are working with as well?

Can you please advise me on this?

Thanks so much.

Obnoxious CSR using account info against clients

I had the most horrible experience with my bank JP Morgan Chase. The auto loan division was calling me as I was 5 days late on my payment. They were calling at 8am weekend or weekday, it didn't matter. I called Monday to stop the phone calls and was told I couldn't I was asked about my payment and told the CSR I would make it that same day which I did thru a phone payment. I called again Tuesday to get a physical address to send my written request to stop the phone calls and to verify the payment went thru. The CSR on Tuesday was outrageous. She refused to give me a supervisor, kept me on hold for 6 minutes as "she was strong and not going to allow me to talk to anyone just to prove I was having a bad day." As I continued to request a supervisor she started personally attacking me using my account information.

"You were turned down 5 times for this loan. you should be grateful you even got this car."
"We took a big risk and gave you a chance."
"I'm surprised you still have this car. I don't think you are going to be able to keep it."

Whe I started quoting her as I was writing down these responses she finally transferred my call but not to a supervisor, she placed me back in line for another representative. I have filed a complaint with Chase but I am just absolutely shocked at the treatment. No customer of any type should be treated as I was treated. I saw no reason to explain why we had been going thru hard times (lay offs and a near fatal car crash) and I don't think any person should have to. She was demeaning to say the least.

As many are going thru hard times right now I want to make every effort I can to insure the next person in my shoes is not treated this way. Is there anything else I can do about this matter. Chase needs to get an eye opening slap in the face that they can not allow their personnel to treat people in this matter.
