San Diego County proclaims today as "UCAN Day"

UCAN News

If you had a feeling your bones that today was a special day, your hunch was correct.  The San Diego County Board of Supervisors presented UCAN's Executive Director Michael Shames with a proclamation declaring Jan. 26th as "Utility Consumers' Action Network Day" in San Diego.  Shames and his staff were honored this morning by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors  for "25 years of outstanding service, leadership and commitment to area residents" in a glowing presentation by County Supervisor Dianne Jacob.

The county proclamation states: "Over the past 25 years, UCAN's not-for-profit legal team has saved San Diego consumers billions of dollars in unfair utility hikes."

UCAN was commended for "outstanding service, leadership and commitment to area residents and for protecting San Diego and Southern Orange County consumers from abusive utilities, energy companies and corporations."

The proclamation noted that UCAN is supported by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, and tens of thousands of committed members, and that "UCAN continues to be the largest and most effective regional consumer group in the nation."
