Doctor Sherry Franklin specializes in treating children, but she isn't getting paid to do it.
According to Franklin, big insurance companies are deadbeat debtors: they keep telling her that the bills she sends them have been "lost in the mail."
Yeah. Right.
When consumers don't pay their bills, their credit is destroyed. But when big health insurance companies don't pay their bills, they make money by balancing their books on the backs of doctors ... and ultimately the money paid out by you, the customer. California's Insurance Commissioner says that insurance companies have intentionally developed special systems for delaying their payments to doctors.
Maybe some day, they'll come up with a system for providing health care. One can only hope.
