Lost Business

For myself; I lost a lot of business because other companies lose the're customers too!

The only thing I've done is to scramble to find new work and cut back on my expenses.

Debt

I don't feel sorry for the banks or lending places. I am sure most people have tired to work with them and their excuse is it's in the contract and we don't refinanace, etc..
So to those credit collectors tell them when they get a person in there that will redo your loans etc.... you will talk not till then. These banks and such seem so stupid to me just think of it this way if they did refinance that loan you have now what? Yes idiots at the bank and other lending places you would be making more money in the long run. How stupid are these people at banks and lending places? There is no law saying a mortagage has to be 30 years. Refinanace at lower rate for 40 years. Credit cards companies also stupid. Wouldn't you much rather have the person pay what they spent and forget about the over limit charges late payment etc... Your not getting anywhere harrassing them they don't answer you or hang up on you. When are all these finanical wizards gonna wake up. I have a High School Education and if it were me I would work with the person and at least recoup some of the money even if it wasn't all of it. After all look at it this way some money is better then none and no you don't have to collect all the interest stated in loan agreements. You choose to. So wake morons in the Banks and Lending places. Work with the person not against them. But I am sure you found that out now.

The year 2008 was not a

The year 2008 was not a really a great year for most us because of the Global Economic Crisis that we are experiencing until now. A lot of people got on the ball with debt consolidation, and many took out a payday loan to help them through lean times and to avoid bank fees. Financial planning is on a lot of people's minds as they are setting New Year's resolutions. Dips in the economy has gotten a lot of people thinking about money saving tips to get a little extra cash in their hands. They were also on the lookout for advice on how to handle their finances a little better, how to avoid having to take out a payday loan and how to prepare for things like the awful contemplation of unemployment – which has hit over 2.5 million more people last year, and some money management tips certainly can help anyone out. There are numerous sources for good financial advice, like Personalmoneystore.com, and access to the advice on the website is completely free to anyone. You can read the article for yourself on the payday loan money blog at personalmoneystore.com

Answer to Mary Johnson

Right there goes back to what I said about taking out payday loans. Ma'am just hang up when they call. I really doubt your debt is high enough for them to ever decide to do anything about it. I do not like those type of collection calls but these people who started this sight want everyone to think everyone is like that. Send a cease and desist letter & let the chips fall where they may. I truly do not believe anything will happen to you. You are one of the people who could not help what happened and not like a lot of these people who just don't want to pay their bills. I wish you the very best.

Answer to shrude comments

Some of this comments must be made in jest, like the shrude comments guy. The bank I work for is getting nothing in the bailouts because they had the foresight to see what was going to happen in the housing market & took steps to help mortgage holders before it got out of hand. Now have they lost money, of course. But what gets me is people taking out mortgages on homes they can't afford, which was caused by the democratic congress, but thinking they still don't have to pay. Six months after all these peoples mortgages were restructured & lowered their payments by a great deal they still haven't made a payment. And on credit cards, what is it that makes a person think they can go get a credit card & it's OK not to pay it back, it boggles the mind. Where do you guys come up with this. Are their some people who have had something so bad happen that they just can't pay, of course, but the majority of people just got behind then start making up excuses in their head why they shouldn't have to pay & then start believing their own mind set. When I see anyone take out a $300 limit card & won't make $15 a month payments then don't tell me they can't, it is they choose not to. So think what you want but if you buy into what some of these people say then I feel sorry for you. The credit card delinquency rate is getting so bad it is going to be the next housing crises & then who will you have to blame then. Grow up for Gods sake.

$15 a month - and then some

Here's the trouble with the $300 limit, $15 a month cards. Your account may be at 290 balance. For whatever reason a payment gets missed. Forgot to mail it, came up short that month, or whatever the case may be. You are then promptly charged a $30 or $40 late payment fee, AND a $30 or 40 over limit fee. Now your late and over. Maybe as much as $70 or $80 over. You get a bill that says your minimum payment might be $30 (cause you now owe two months worth) so you send in the $30, and get charged ANOTHER $30 - 40 over limit fee, but at least you weren't late. Now, to stop these fees from accruing you need to make the next $15 payment PLUS over $100 in over limit charges to stop them from building up. The accounts are SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to have this happen. The honest accounts, run by honest companies generally do not add on over limit fees when you went over limit because of interest or late payment fees incurred that month. Your account will show you are over, and have a minimum payment amount, but no over limit. And if you pay your payment and over limit amount you're OK. The more shady accounts add these fees and compound them quickly. It's quite simple for someone who has a $300 limit card to wind up with a balance of $1500 in a few short months, because they couldn't catch up with the fees. And these fees and schedules are complex and explained with a ton of legalease in very small print in multipage agreements where most people who go for these accounts (low income, risky credit) can't read them, won't read them, or don't understand them. And in a world where transactions and every day purchases are becoming more and more reliant on plastic (credit, debit, prepaid or whatever) it's easy for them to get sucked into this cycle.

really?

Idiots who post as "anonymous" have no right to make comments if they don't have the guts to post their real names. Such as "Answer to shrude comments".

Mary Johnson at Capital Collections LLC, fl

Capital Collections based in FL, continues to harrass me. On November 30, 2007 I was diagnosed with cancer and was released to go back to work until June 2008. There Supervisor Mary Johnson continues to leave nasty voicemail messages stating I am going to jail and I am a liar based upon a payday loan I took out with cash advance. I attempted to make payment arrangements, but recently was evicted from my home. I shared this information with her and she continued to call me a liar via email and voicemail. I am currently on coumadin which is a bloodthinner and have to stay stress free. I don;t know what to do. Can you please help me?

One more thing. 1st party

One more thing. 1st party collections are not subject to FDCPA & if you don't believe me go down to one of your local payday loan places & take a loan & don't pay them & you will see how far FDCPA goes. Just because HSBC is so good to people don't think they could not be ugly if they were that kind of company which they are not. If you owe HSBC you won't find another company more willing to help so you can see where some of these comments would get to me. Try what I have said & you will get results & that is a promise.

If you get a call from HSBC

If you get a call from HSBC just talk to them like a decent person & you might find out there are so many things they can do to help. If you have more than one account let them know so they can note the other accounts because that person may not know. I have never seen a bank more willing to help people than HSBC. Just really try talking to them decent & I bet they will do everything to help. Now we all know things can happen & there is just nothing you can do to repay a debt no matter how much you want to. But just give them the chance to talk to you and see & thats not asking to much. For people who say it's the wrong # can you imagine how many times a day they hear that when it is the correct # so just talk to them & explain & calls will quit, it's not that hard.

If you get a call from HSBC

I'm all for being nice and explaining one's circumstances, but I can honestly say that "nice" doesn't work with these people. Or at least it hasn't in my case. I am currently out on medical leave and have no short-term disability (people ... pay attention to those AFLAC commercials :--)). I've repeatedly explained my situation, requested reduced payments, reduced interest, anything to keep a working relationship with them. Nothing doing. Like most of the other writers, I receive anywhere from 4 to as many as 10 calls per day. Explaining to the collector on the other side of the phone that they are in violation of collection practices means nothing to them. Explaining that you are out on medical leave and offernig proof of same does nothing. I've begged them not to call me at home so I can heal and get back to work (which would please both of us!) They promise to "note it in their file", but an hour later you can bet your boots that someone else from HSBC will call once again.

HSBC

Call them after 9 am. Before that and after 4 pm you are getting the outsource people and they are ridiculous.

calls for other people

The only debt my husband and I have is for our house and it's always paid on time. However we get several phone calls a day from debt collectors. One is calling for the man we bought our house from four years ago. We had never met him prior to buying the house and had no communication or relationship with him outside of buying his house. We have no idea where he went after he sold us his house. The phone number we have is not the same one he had. However we get daily calls for him, and we have told them he does not live here and that we don't know where he is, most of the calls are just recordings. If we don't answer or are not home, we get voicemail with that last bit of thier computer message. The second group of phone calls is for someone we never heard of, we get recorded calls for her too most of the time, when we get a live one we tell them we have never heard of her, but we keep getting those calls. The third one is for my sister. She used our phone once to call another company, she used her tax return to pay off her student loan and was visiting us and used our phone. She told them not to put the number down as her number and told them it was Not her number. She paid off that debt completely. However she has another debt for a credit card where she tried to make a payment plan after she was laid off her job. They would not accept any of the amounts she offered and now they are calling my house daily. They will not accept that she does not live here. I have told her to do something about her debt, but she is an adult and I can't force her and I darn sure am not going to pay her bills. Now between the three of them I get at least three calls a day, often more. I am tired of it, how do i get rid of them?

No let up

My wife has been getting calls to her wireless phone from 800 684-8429 for the last couple of months (she has had the number much longer). They call about 5-8 times a day. The first time I talked to them, they asked for "Shanee King" and I told them that we did not know anyone by that name, please stop calling. The calls continued unabated.

Another time I was equipped with a recorder. On answering, I stated this call is being recorded, please state your name, employee ID, and the name of the company you work for. The response was, "Sir! I can't talk to you if your recording", and she hung up.

The calls continue.

Do I want to risk, by sending the suggested form letter, giving this company with obviously low/no moral standards more information about myself (name & address)?

Phone calls from 800-684-8429

I am having call rejection put on my damn phone so I can block this phone number. I tried talking to them tonight and telling them whoever they are looking for doesn't live here but they have called 4 times in 2 hours!!! I'm reporting them to the FCC too! Ridiculous.

3 to 5 calls a day??? Well

3 to 5 calls a day??? Well that's a lot, I don't think they should be allowed to do so, this is pure harassment. I think it's normal to get an official warning and a deadline according to the credit contract but these calls are out of line. Have you ever considered debt consolidation options?

Niece is a headache

My husband and I have had a similar problem, except the person with the bad debt is my husband's niece, who used her own name (same last name as ours) and OUR phone number on her credit applications! We did not give her permission to do this, nevertheless, WE are the ones receiving the harassing phone calls. She has married, and has a new last name. I have given ALL of her information, including her married name, phone number and address to the credit collectors, yet they persist in calling our home. My guess is she ignores their calls. What is the proper course of action?

Too many phone calls - try this--

Haev your son communicate with these people and work out a payment arrangement -- and have it in writing. Then make the payments!
If the calls from some collection agencies are harrassing you illegally, try this:
Phonetray Free.
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/phonetray.html

Install on your computer with your phone cord hooked to the modem. It can screen calls and even give the caller busy signals or disconnect messages. And it's FREE.
If you like it, flip the software author a few bucks.

Too many phone calls that are not meant for me!

I have been getting anywhere from 3 to 5 calls a day, every day concerning my son's debts. I already asked them to STOP CALLING MY PERSONAL HOME PHONE yesterday 9-16-07 at 11 am. I told them I am going to report them in if this does't stop. And that I do have caller ID on my phones.
But It DID NOT STOP.! They called again the same day at 4pm. So, what else can I do about this?

Shrude comments

You can now eat your own words since our money and yours is having to bail the banks out! I guess you can now say something like they, the banks made some bad investments and revert it back on the folks that got the credit cards from them and didn't pay them back, but since we are holding people accountable it would be the banks making bad choices. By the way I hope that your house value is holding up, either way you will be paying hefty taxes on it. I guess you should have seen this coming and took the profit from your house before it went in the toliet to. The point is you can be a jerk about others problems when they didn't see the credit card problem coming either. Hinesight is 20 20. Get a life!

Tell your son to be a man &

Tell your son to be a man & call them back to set up arrangements. If he can't pay then he should try a debt management program or file bankruptcy. If your old enough to get a credit card then your old enough to handle it own your own & not hide behind momma & daddy. Also I see so much about FDCPA. Does anyone even know that FDCPA is for third party collections & doesn't actually govern the the banks you got the credit cards from. Don't blame the banks, no one made anyone take a credit card & charge it up. You have to be very disciplined or you should never have a card & you are the only one who knows that. If the bank wouldn't give you a card you would gripe about that & now that they want their money back everyone thinks they are the bad guys. It is no different than if you loan your friend some $ to help him out & if he didn't pay you back you would have a real problem with that so why does everyone see it so different if it's a stranger loaning you the money. I just think people really need to take a hard look at themselves before they strike out at the one who was willing to loan them the money, but that's my opinion. This wasn't just about your son but to everyone who thinks they should not have to pay money back they owe. I just don't understand how a person can feel that way.

please

The banks got them selves into this mess, too bad for them, now they want to harrass the people they said could pay back money. I get calls at 5:30 am every day. We tried to work something out 8 months ago with the bank before we fell behind, my husband was moved for his job and we could not sell the house thanks to the housing crisis caused by the banks, we were told that they would not talk to us about help until we stopped making payments... Some solution. Now that we can not afford rent and a mortgage now they will talk to us by harassing us daily!!! They told us they have the right to call us whenever they want no matter what time of day it is, and that was the manager..... I personally don't think any money shoudl be used for the banks to be bailed out, they created the mess by loaning to many who could not afford houses, screwing over those of us who could afford our payments but could not sell when we HAD to move. Let them sink like the rest of america is right now!!!!

Can I Borrow Your Porsche?

You have the right idea, but you're almost as big of a douche as these people that keep calling. You obviously must be a lender or some kind of person in a 'the one making the other bend over' position, as you think it's 'sooooo big' of someone to lend another money. Guess what, if you don't have the qualifications to be lent money they're not going to lend it to you anyway, so if you do meet those, it is by your own self that you are considered an asset to a lender. So i've got news for you buddy you're either going to get a loan or you're not, no one is out there taking chances on people as proven by the way people act like such assholes when they take a look at your less than perfect credit score.

Bad shit happens to good people. Good people don't have health insurance that fall upon illnesses. Good people get their car smashed in the street and no one ever owns up to paying for it setting them into less than ideal money situations, etc. Please do us all a favor and get off your high horse and get to know some real people, because it seems the only one you know are happy-go-lucky douchebags like yourself.

As another poster has

As another poster has already said - the son could have fallen on tough times. I, too, have fallen behind on my debt. I have every intention of paying them back, but unexpectedly, I could not meet that obligation.

As for the calls coming to you - unless your son is a minor, it is illegal for a creditor to call you. It's HARASSMENT and the creditor knows this. My creditor used the internet to find the number of a neighbor that I did not know, and called them!!

it has nothing to do with

it has nothing to do with people thinking they shouldn't have to pay it back. Sometimes people get down in bad positions and they are trying to get out of it, take me, I lost my job and have been trying to get one back that pays me what my last job did, so while working odd jobs I have fallen behind on my bills. So now that I am behind I receive 5-10 calls from one HSBC account and 5-10 from another HSBC account EVERYDAY. I have answered and told them what my problem was, but they continue to call EVERYDAY. It is like every hour I get a call from HSBC and it is ridiculous. and it has nothing to do with me not wanting to pay, or thinking I shouldn't pay, I wish i COULD pay, and I don't need them harrassing me.
