UCAN News

The UCAN Fraud Squad In 2006, UCAN’s Fraud Squad logged its 12,000th consumer complaint. When you complain about consumer fraud - especially if it involves a utility - we respond, with hands-on help. And if we see a persistent pattern of abuse, we take legal action. As a member you get priority access to the Fraud Squad when you call (619) 881-UCAN.

Communities for Telecom Rights UCAN’s tiny staff helped create a statewide network of 45 nonprofit groups to protect vulnerable consumers from predatory phone companies. So far, the project has reaped more than 10,000 consumer complaints while aggressively fighting for improved responsiveness by the phone companies and better oversight by the CPUC.
