Ye I know how it feels to pay so much for an electricity bill even if we consume half of what we are paying. I'm sure of that. I would rather spend my money on medical prescriptions because I have something good to gain from that. It's my healthy in stake.

Can someone please explain this? Is SDG&E the "Independent System Operator"? My first reaction is "Duh!" if I'm a customer I would expect the utility company to have enough generating facilities to meet demand at all times - and am I not paying for that already via the 1) electric charge, 2) transmission charge, 3) distribution charge? Why is there a separate charge to ensure I get "reliable" service? It's like asking for a (mandatory) tip for something you should already be doing as part of your job!

Accounts that have 3 returned checks within 12 months are restricted to cash or money order payments for 2 years. I agree that online payments seem to benefit both parties. But reason doesn't work for SDG&E.

My wife usually pays the bills and evidently not very well. Now SDGE has put our account on cash/money order only rule and I can't even bring our account up to date paying through my bank's online pay service. I tried to explain to SDGE customer service that my bank would not pay them if I had insufficient funds but they won't listen. Writing a check is one thing, having your own bank pay the service is another. I believe they are really inflexible on this and I understand my account is on this cash only for 2 years.
