San Diego gas prices climb 6¢ overnight, 20¢ in 7-days

Update: Monday, August 10, 2009: As of this morning, UCAN's Gas Project at www.fueltracker.com is reporting an average price of $3.07 a gallon for regular gasoline, and$2.92 for diesel. That's an additional increase of a penny for RUL and two cents for diesel in the last 48 hours.

For the first time since June, San Diego gas prices have surged past the $3 a gallon mark, moving up 20 cents in the last seven days, 14 cents since Monday, and an alarming 6.5 cents in the last 24 hours.

Normally, price spikes of this magnitude only occur after  a major refinery disaster.

A month ago on this day gas cost $2.95 a gallon, then dropped to $2.82 on July 27.   Six months ago gas cost $2.17 a gallon in San Diego.  A year ago on this day gas cost $4.09 a gallon and Diesel averaged $4.89 a gallon.
