Despite high oil prices, you are still getting gouged for your gas.

UCAN News

San Diego gas prices dropped almost imperceptibly over Thanksgiving weekend, from $3.396 a gallon the day before Thanksgiving, to a new average today of $3.391, according to UCAN's Gas Project.

"If gas prices reflected the cost of oil and market conditions, they should be lower," says UCAN's gasoline analyst Charles Langley.

The current average is the highest price ever for gasoline in any November in San Diego history, and just 10¢ shy of the all time record high of $3.50 a gallon set on May 8th of this year.

One month ago on this day, gasoline cost $3.143 a gallon.

One year ago, gasoline cost $2.503 a gallon in San Diego.

On this day last year, oil cost $60.32 a barrel ($1.43 per gallon of gas), while oil closed today at $94.42 a barrel ($2.15 per gallon of gas).

What that means, is that while our gasoline costs almost 90¢ more per gallon than this day last year, the oil in our gasoline only costs only 72¢ more per gallon. This fact suggests strongly that refineries are gouging San Diego motorists by at least 18¢ a gallon.
