Gas pain continues

UCAN News

Today, UCAN's Gas Survey showed that the average price of regular unleaded has increased by 3.7¢ over the weekend, and by almost 16¢ since last Monday. The current average price per gallon is $4.257.

Diesel buyers saw some slight relief over the weekend, but the relief was scant - less than three cents a gallon. Diesel currently averages $5.095 a gallon in San Diego, down 2.5¢ since Friday, and about 2¢ lower than last Monday. Analysts expect diesel to start dropping quickly soon, but at these prices, the difference will be a minimal. "For truckers and other diesel-dependent businesses, it's a matter of prices decreasing from the level of catastrophic to disastrous," says Charles Langley, UCAN Gasoline Project Manager.

At current prices, the oil in a gallon of gasoline costs almost exactly $3 a gallon. Last year, the oil in a gallon gasoline cost roughly half as much. The only good news is that while oil prices have doubled, gasoline prices have not - otherwise we would be paying an average gas price of about $6.72 a gallon.

What cracks me up is in the middle of all of this they just raised bus fair prices here in NJ. It would seem to me they should lower it because the use of the bus is up. IMO its just more price gouging.

HURRAY!!!! KEEP going up

America...you need to start demanding mass transit improvements by your elected morons. Start to bike, carpool, get out of your terrorist SUV's, demand solar, wind, nuclear.

Instead of complaining about the price, start to take action.

Americans are good at whining, but not good at action.
