Gas prices: "a very scary Christmas ..."

Gasoline Was 50 Cents Per Gallon Cheaper at This Time Last Year

KPBS NEWS

San Diego's average gas price is down four cents a gallon in the last week. The Utility consumer's Action Network's Charles Langley says it now costs $3.23 for a gallon of regular. He says that's down 40 cents a gallon from last month.

However, Langley says he's worried what the current price of gas means for the coming year.

Langley: For us at least, instead of a Merry Christmas it makes for a scary Christmas, because when we start out the year with prices this high, generally it’s a harbinger of high prices for the rest of the year. So it’s kind of frightening.

Langley says prices have never been this high so late in December. He says a gallon of regular gas was more than 50 cents a gallon cheaper at this time last year.
