Today, diesel fuel reached a new record price of $4.34 a gallon. Regular gasoline averages $3.80 a gallon. Both are new records that can be credited to intentional cutbacks in the supply of gasoline by refiners that have learned that restricting supply is more profitable than competing in the marketplace.
