Tip 20. Replace That Old Garage Door
Garage Doors are giant moving walls with lots of gaps for air to get in and reduce your homes energy efficiency. Either plug them up with some good caulk and insulation from the hardware store. If your door is really old, replace it with an energy efficient model. If you replace it with a qualified Energy Efficient door you can get a 30% tax credit. Here's a comprehensive list of the types of doors that qualify. Also includes a link to the Certificate needed to claim the tax credit.

We'll need more than tips to lower the energy consumption, well need a lot of good will and awareness. Most of us are aware by now on what they have to do to save energy, but only a part of us actually do something. Starting with energy star appliance parts and ending with solar panels or other types of alternative energy we can all contribute in a change for better.

I am impressed, I never really thought I have so many energy saving options and surprisingly some of them are extremely easy to handle. I want to be an active part in preserving the environment and energy saving seems like a great start. I plan to become a member in an earth 4 energy program, this will help me become more involved in saving our planet.
Rheostat
I was told once a long time ago that dimming lights with a rheostat doesn't use less energy. The increased resistance in the circuit producing the dimming effect actually decreases its efficiency. I'm not an electrician however, so this is just word of mouth.

Nice tips but if i use low flow shower heads then what kind of shower would it be....like showering at a moutain spring
