There are foibles in all of us. There are even Physics Foibles. Entropy is one of them.

Inside a warm damp cave, completely sealed off from the outside world, will life survive?

Answer: No life forms could flourish indefinitely.

In an isolated system, entropy always increases. Life tries to push entropy in the opposite direction. When life is created, entropy decreases in the cave but nature demands a greater entropy increase offset.

The cave, being sealed, would mean that entropy would reach its max, thus energy necessary to sustain and generate new life would be unavailable.

Maybe we should learn a lesson from this. Available energy is mandatory. Wealth may equate to available energy. If you want to live in a nation that is prospering, make sure that its available energy supply is abundant.

Duke Energy Cincinnati Scam

My house uses an electric stove and gas furnace/water heater, so most electric usage will be in the summer months, with higher gas in the colder months.

My January bill electricity usage was 175% higher than the electric usage in August, which, is not possible. I asked my neighbors about it, they bill said the same thing. The local news stations said that over 100,000 Duke Energy users in the Cincinnati area had the same problem. My bill indicated that the meter reading was actual and not estimated. I checked the meter and they had written down a number around 3 months/ usage higher than the meter displayed. I called and they corrected the usage for the next month.

I find it hard to believe that Duke Energy has only 1 field rep erroneously reading these meters. Also, I find it hard to believe that they have 1000 reps erroneously reading these meters.

After my bill was fixed, I did notice a substantial rate increase, yet my bill went from the outrageous $450/month price down to $150, which would make most people realize the huge decrease and not question the price increase.

I believe that Duke Energy Intentionally fudged all of these meter readings to slip in a rate increase without most people knowing about it and possibly making tons more money by people who pay their bills without questioning the abnormal usage.

Is this practice of deception and possible theft legal for Duke Energy or should there be legal action against them? Also, I've heard the "president" speak about wanting to raise energy costs to help protect the "ozone layer" or whatever, and I'm wondering if this is a more widespread problem, or localized in Cincinnati.

EMF reding and what they mean?

What do the EMF reading really mean? My husband and I are looking into buying a home that is near power lines. We have read article after article and are not really understanding if it is something that we should really be concerned with. Every article seems to state that the studies are inconclusive as so many other factors came into play of the studies; such as socoioeconomic status of the areas in which the studies were made. From everything that we have read, one would think that with all the cell phone use and microwave use we would all laready be suffering from brain cancer or cancer of some other kind. Therefore, my question remains: how concerned should we be if the average EMF readings of our house are 10.73 MG inside and 17.8 on the outside? We are on a time crunch and would love to know if someone could help us get these questins answered or lead us in the right direction as we have exhaustede all our other resources.
Thank you!
