SDG&E forcing landowners to give up their property for the Sunrise Powerlink: Free handbook shows how to fight back.

There's a reason they call them San Diego Graft and Extortion.
On Page One in Sunday's San Diego Union-Tribune, Onell Soto reported on San Diego Gas and Electric's plan to seize the homes of people who live in the path of the proposed Sunrise PowerLink. SDG&E plans to do it by using the legal power of Eminent Domain.
Eminent Domain is when a government or corporate entity with a lot of influence and power takes your land by legal force even when you refuse to sell it.
If you've been threatened by SDG&E, there are two things you need to know:
First, we have published a primer on your rights under Eminent Domain with specific advice on what to do when SDG&E's henchmen have darkened your door with a combination of threats, intimidation, and cold hard cash.
Second, this battle isn't over yet. SDG&E's strategy has been to intimidate politicians, regulators, and the public, into thinking that the Sunrise powerLink is fait-accomplis - a done deal.
Don't you believe it. The June 2, 2010 construction date and the threats of land seizure are all a part of the ruse. UCAN has argued that there are dozens of cheaper, better alternatives to the PowerLink; that its construction is unlawful, and that the project itself costs more than what SDG&E estimates.
We'll let you know when the fat lady sings. UCAN and our partners in backcountry communities have forced SDG&E to reroute this line, and have exposed numerous irregularities in the utility's plans. To learn more, visit our Sunrise PowerLink Section.
