Commission says SDG&E caused Rice, Witch and Guejito fires

UCAN News

SDG&E attempted to stifle a negative government report showing the utility is at fault for the Witch, Guejito, and Rice fires

Today, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) issued an important report showing the link between faulty utility lines and the Rice, Witch and Guejito fires. SDG&E tried to get the commission to delay publication of the report. Why? Because not only is SDG&E fingered as a major culprit behind the devastating wild fires, but the report reflects poorly on Sempra's plans to construct the Sunrise PowerLink. UCAN is opposed to the Sunrise Transmission Project on the grounds that it is a waste of money, corporate welfare for SDG&E/Sempra, and a fire hazard.

And it appears that the State's top regulatory agency agrees.

Here is today's story in the Union Tribune, State accuses SDG&E of trying to delay report on 2007 wildfires, <!---- END STORY TITLE -------->and here is the actual report in PDF format: Report of the Consumer Protection and Safety Division Regarding the Guejito, Witch, and Rice Fires
