Thermostat mandate
I wrote the story, broken, it should be said, by Joseph Somsel on Jan. 4 in the American Thinker magazine online.
The California Energy Commission said last Friday the proposal will be revised to give customers ultimate control over their thermostat. However, read the actual text of the proposed revision to make sure this is the case.
Also, check the thermostat's reference design which also contains the control provision, It is now at version 1.01, dated Oct. 29, 2007. Find it at: http://tinyurl.com/37f6lf. It's on Page 17, under "Emergency (Grid Reliability) Events."
Note also that the language has been changed from a previous draft that described control of the PCT by a utility. The word "utility" was deleted and replaced with "controlling entity", whatever that is.
Big Brother to control thermostats in homes?
This is an outrage. This state/country is becoming more and more communist/socialist as we speak. I cant believe someone thought they could actually do such a thing. If this really happens, you best believe I will be leaving California. I will never let anyone try and control my home.
What if I am sick or theres a problem or me or my family have heath conditions that say we need to be cool or warm, ect. They just get to shut my things off, and theirs nothing I can do.
Please. Do NOT let such a thing happen. Make it known Californians will NOT be controlled.
