premium fuel grades not worth the price

The answer is yes, put the cheap stuff in your car and feel
good about it. If you drive a lot, it will save you several
hundred dollars a year.

The reason that most high-performance cars like your Accura MDX
require premium is because the use of premium gasoline
improves the vehicle fleet mileage figures slightly. The slight boost
in miles per gallon lets Acura's parent company, Honda, sell
more gas guzzling SUVs while bolstering their reputation for
having the best gasoline mileage for every class of vehicle.

Modern cars have computerized anti-knock systems that
adjust and modify to the gasoline and altitude. Putting in 87
Octane should make very little difference and it will not harm
your car.

For more information on your MDX and 87 Octane, see
Jim healey's article in USA Today.
