sprint etf not waived, sent to nco debt
since feb2009 i have spent hours on phone with sprint, 1st they'll waive, then they won't, how about a newer phone, etc. we agreed to disagree and they sent nco financial my nonsprint home phone number which they call daily around 8am with auto voice in english and spanish from 8002956724. while i have asked them not to call months ago, it has gotten excessive and abusive. so i filed a complaint with the governments donotcall website, and since my phone has been registered since 2003, i don't have to wait the 30 days to complain. btw, when i called nco this morning to ask them to stop calling, they hung up on me....so i filed. after sprint lies to you they send you to auto voice harrassment,....charming.
Sprint no ETF
I just chatted with the Sprint rep and if you quote the .99 adminsitrative fee as a meterial change in the contract, you may cancel your plan without a ETF...........call customer service prior to January 2009 and you'll be able to do it.
Sprint ETF & other "Surcharges"
I have been unhappy with my centro, and thats not sprints fault of course. But in the process of inquiring about getting a new or replacement i was shuffled around so much and had to call back, because even though they said they would call back...no one ever did..AT ALL. So my issue is not with the phone, or wether they could or would acquiesce to my requests. Its the fact that no one would follow through just to say "well we explored all avenues. and this is what we can offer you at this point." I would of been satisfied. So in my research i saw several things referring to the administrative and regulatory charges under the Surcharges section on my bill and on the sprint website. In addition to the admin and reg charges are Federal Univeral Assessmetn Fee. Which on my bill has changed, and i wanted to cancel without incurring an ETF. I was told that was not possible. Eventhough my bill says: "Surcharges may include: Federal USF, Admin etc..." It groups them together, but sprint does not. Why? They would not explain. Just that that was not a change that would waive the ETF. what can i do now?

FREE at last
After battling with sprint for months i finally found grounds to terminate my contract with no ETF. First i called them and after being put on hold and transferred for nearly an hour I spoke to a very rude woman in account services, when i explained that i noticed an increase in the admin. fee effective on jan. 1, 2009 and would like to cancel she informed me that i would still have to pay the ETF and she started blabbing on about terms and conditions. she said all she could do was waive the fee for me until the end of my contract. i simply and politely told her that thats not acceptable and i would be getting in touch with the BBB to file a complaint and i hung up. I went to the sprint website and was browsing looking for something to prove my case when i came across the sprint chat.. I chatted with a very polite representative and explained that i wanted to cancel my account with no ETF because of a material change in my contract and stated exactly what it said on the bill. she then said no problem and cancelled the account with NO ETF. i made her confirm this 3 times just to be sure and then i saved the conversation on my computer. When i went back to the chat today i double checked that the account was getting shut off on the 16th and that there was a note on my account stating that the ETF was totally waived. Again i saved the convo to my computer so this way if they come back and try to charge the etf to my account later i have solid proof stating that it was waived!

Sprint administrative fee
I just received my bill for November 2008 and it states that my administrative fee is going to increase on January 1st 2009 by .99 a line. Would this be considered a material change to cancel my contract?

Well I dont know if anyone
Well I dont know if anyone else has this problem but I was told I could get out of my service without ETF. and I even called back a couple days later to verify and was told all is well. I just received my last bill and it has an ETF on it. On the bill it says this. "Explanation of Certain Account Summary
Provisions (page 3):
Sprint Surcharges: Rates we choose to collect
from you to help defray costs imposed on us.
Surcharges are not taxes or amounts we are
required to collect from you by law. Surcharges
may include: Federal USF, regulatory charges,
administrative charges, gross receipts charges,
and other charges incurred to recover costs
associated with governmental programs. The
amounts, and the components used to calculate
Surcharge amounts, are subject to change.
Government Fees and Taxes: Taxes and fees
Sprint is required to collect from customers on
behalf of the government."
I am ready to do battle again with customer service but I wanted to see if anyone had this happen to them.
surcharges
Yes, I just opened my bill and there are surcharges in the amount of $5.08 for the month. I'm no sure how long this has been going on since I have had the contract a year now. I am beginning to go over my bills with a fine tooth comb because I have had tons of problems with Sprint since I began a year ago. I can not wait to get out of this contract. I took the $59.99 contrat and I am being charged $122.19 this month. That's the lowest it has been since I began a year ago. What an absolute rip off, not to mention the service is one of the worst I have had yet.
