Dish Network Subscribers: Expect used equipment when signing up!
A recent UCAN complaint revealed that Dish Network provides new service subscribers with refurbished equipment.
The consumer who filed the complaint with UCAN was under the assumption that she would receive brand new equipment upon signing up for service. However, she soon found out the equipment was used.
The Dish Network service agreement is silent on the issue of equipment, however, it does provide a 60 day warranty which covers any and all defects arising out of the equipment provided to new customers.

Why don't they provide new equipments for new customers?
Refurbished Business Phones
Hello, Anonymous! This is
Hello, Anonymous! This is Mike LeMar with DISH Network. I apologize for the dissatisfaction with the equipment you were installed with. While new equipment is not guaranteed for an installation of new service, we try to make sure that you are installed with like-new equipment. Most of the equipment that we install for our customers is ours and we are leasing it to them. So, when they no longer need it, it's necessary for them to return it to us. When the equipment arrives back to us, we check it for any problems and make sure it's working properly. If it is, we can then use it again.
If there is an issue with the functionality and/or appearance of the equipment that was installed, let me know and I would be happy to assist further to resolve that for you!
Hope that helps!

If a customer chooses to purchase their equipment, they would receive brand new equipment. New purchased equipment has a one year lease from the date of purchase. If the equipment is installed by DISH, the installation would have a 60 day warranty.
