It amazes and saddens me to read about these scams: first because there are folks out there who are doing this and cheating folks out of their hard-earned money. But there is another reason this saddens me:

For heaven's sake look at what's going on here! You're sending money to an AFRICAN nation for a puppy you are supposedly buying here in the US? Did you leave your brain in the drawer that day? OK, forget Camaroon - READ THE STUPID EMAILS! A pet shipper that is "licensed by the USDA"? Well, that's great... if you plan to EAT your pet. The USDA is not concerned with pet animals. And WHY woudl a pet shipper use a regular airline... you could pick the animal up yourself! Look at the grammer and sentence phrasing in the emails: "Do your kids love the coming of these puppies". Oh, please - does this tellyou nothing? And I'm sorry, but if you were conned into sending over $25k for a chihuahua puppy sight unseen before figuring out that something wasn't quite right you have more money than sense to begin with.

I think I'm going to go into the Scam Insurance business. For a $6k yearly premium I'll cover your scam losses up to a $5000 maximum per year...sound good?

She said she just had twins and had to move to Cameroon with her husband. She said she was gonna ship them to me. thank goodness i found this website of people telling me their stories. i'm a high school student right now as a junior. my family and i had recently lost our yorkie
puppy due to a car accident. my sister's boyfriend was to keep an eye on her
along with our other puppy gino who's a pit. but he didn't pay enough attention
and she ran out into the street. after that day my family was so depressed. we
also had to give our pit away. so i began searching night and day for 3 weeks
on every website to see if anybody is selling this breed of puppy for 100 dollars
or less since we got our yorkie for 80. we wanted a cheap puppy because we
are not rich people but we do have time to take care of a puppy. i also have
looked on oodle.com and a whole bunch of other websites to find a puppy near
me. i found some that were free or less then 100 dollars and they were located
near me. as i email them i tell them the situation or i ask them where they are
usually located. and when they email me back they never seem to have any
sympathy for my story. they just kept talking about how they have no time
to take care of the puppies and they need to find a loving home and they were
located SOMEWHERE else then the ad originally says. and they say that they are
happy to give me the puppies and that i would only have to pay shipping fees
ranging from 100-500. after i read the whole shipping fee i would usually turn
the offer down. i can find a yorkie breeder in my state that would sell it for cheaper
than the shipping price. i've emailed about 10 different people with ads i found
saying they are selling or giving yorkies away cheap. and each time is the same
thing. they tell me how they have to time and i need to pay a shipping fee. so
a couple of days ago i finally found a women who i thought was located in
kansas who was giving free yorkies away. so i emailed her and asked her
if she was located in kansas city, kansas. and i also asked if the puppies were
free. if they were i was willing to travel from nebraska to kansas to pick them
up. i aslo told her what had happen to my yorkie and how my family is sadden by
it and how we don't want to pay a lot of money for a yorkie. she had no sympathy.
if some one who says oh these are like my babies would've said " i'm sorry to
have hear that" like that stuff but nope. she just told me how she relocated to
Yoaunde to be a medical doctor and how she has no time and that it is a free
adoption and that the dogs can't bare the hot weather. she aslo gave me a
number to call to get more information but i never called it . she also sent me
8 pictures of the puppies which i found adorable. so i wrote her back saying this:

since you are all the way in Yaounde, i have to pay shipping for the puppies
correct? as much as i want the the little angels, i do not want to pay 100
dollars or more just to send one puppy over; i've been searching for a while
for a puppy not over $50 but every person i messaged who were giving yorkies
away said they were in one location on the ad and when they reply they say they
live somewhere else and i have to pay for shipping which cost $150-410 and
that's a lot i think just to ship them. i hope you understand; i wish i could
provied them my loving home but shipping is to much. i apologize.

she replied with this:

it seemed like she was pushing my question away. as well i didn't even ask
about the puppies sex or their background yet. i pretty much said i didn't want
them no more. then when i read the whole they are completely free i wrote back
asking if i have to pay any shipping fees. she replied saying no. and i thought
that was the greatest thing ever. it got my hopes up so high because i was going
to get 2 yorkie puppies for free everything paid for. when i told my parents they
were so happy because they were so sad for the lost of our yorkie puppy. so i
i gave her my information that she requested. i was so excited and i kept checking
my email every 30 mins yesterday to see if she wrote back at all to see what is
going on. so she finally wrote back at 3 am today saying this:

i was considering of paying the 170 since it didn't seem much for 2 puppies.
since it's still early in the morning and my parents are still asleep i was going
to try to convince my parents of paying it since it was a great deal when they
wake up. i had a lot of time left before they wake up; i like to do research on
things i'm unsure of. so i just googled change of ownership for a dog and this
site came up. after reading all these stories, i'm so pissed. they got my family's
and my hopes up so high. and i find out that everything is a scam. it's gonna suck
having to tell my parents that it was fake. it's gonna break their heart. i should've
known better and i should have never gave them my information. i'm glad i didn't
give them any money before they can rip me off by making me pay over 9,000
i'm never trusting any dog website anymore unless it has a phone number in
the United States where people are MORE trustworthy than people in fucking africa.
i'm not a racist and never will be. but i'm pissed for what they are doing to us. i
know they are not fucking rich but a lot of people over here aren't rich. so
scamming people to get money and make them get in debt for a fake puppy is
just sick and wrong. as well as playing with a human's emotion. aparently most of

i was scam too, i was browering and i saw free Yorkshire puppies for adoption, i was not having any intention of getting a pets, but since it was free, i contact the ads, after they said i will be paying only for the delivery fee which is $500 for the both puppies , so i call one of my friend and tell her about it and she said i should take both of the puppies and give her one, i was very happy , they asked for my delivery details i give it to, next day morning somebody called me and said they are the delivery agency, that they have sent me mail so i have to go and check the mail, i when and do so, and they call me again and asked me to confirm my address and i did and also asked to copy their director details and move to western union and sent the money to the name ROGER MEFIRE. and asked why i my sending money to Cameroon and they said is their head office and they called with us number so i believe them and rush and sent the money, and give them the details, they said in 7 hours time i shall received my puppies, i was very happy, after one hour they called my again, and said there is a problem that the Insurance have held the puppies, that i have to $2500 and the money will be given back to me at my home, i never had up to that amount, i call my friend and she refuse that is not normal i insisted and she give $1000 i joint and pay TO the same Roger Mefire. was waiting after 2 hours again they said they are almost in my city and my airport is asking for a city permit, which $3000 and they will refund all the money including the insurance, but i didn't have the money so i told them i have $800 and they asked me to go and pay i pay to the sent name. and they said 30 minutes i will received the puppies after 30minutes that i was expecting the puppies they call me again and ask for another 300 for feeding which notice something and i call my friend and tell about she said is a scam, i never believed, she sent this site and i say similar causes. which i have spent all my money and go into debt.

I found a website (www.oodle.com) that had someone stating they were selling Alaskan Mamalute puppies from Mukwonago, WI for $500. I live in Elkhorn, WI and that isn't far from my home, so I contacted the email address that was on the ad. I asked the person to call me on my cell phone so we could talk about the puppies. The person made it sound like he was the husband and stated they moved to Kentucky and that they could deliver the puppies up to WI for $300 for just shipping alone and that was all we had to pay for, but they would give us dog food (both wet and dry), a collar and a leash, all the paperwork for the dog, and also toys for the dog. I was able to get into an instant message conversion with the person, who stated they were the wife (Stacy). I asked why she couldn't call me and she stated it was because she lost her phone two weeks ago and hadn't pick another phone up. I then talked to her over instant messaging. I told her we were good for the puppy (male) and that I would be fine with the shipping. She then informed me the delivery agency would be contacting me and sending me an email with how to set up payment. Stacy asked me to send her all of my information, address, phone#, e-mail, etc... Then she asked me for something very odd. She asked me for my "ID Number". I had no idea what she was talking about so I asked her what an ID Number was. She said, "It's the number like you would have on a passport when you are going out of the country." I said, "Are you talking about my Social Security Number??" and she said, "Yes. Yes. Your social security number." I told her I don't give that out and that she didn't need that number. I said all you should need are the last four digits of my SSN. She said it was for my protection during delivery, because I have to show the delivery man my card to prove I was the purchaser. I said no that's okay.

I received the email from the bogus company and I had a guy call me right away after they sent me the email. He wanted me to go over the entire email with him. I was to pay Western Union $300 and then inform them I was sending this to a family member or friend so I wouldn't get charged a high fee. The money transfer was going to Victoria Camaroon to a Samuel Jerome. The guy on the phone then told me I would receive a tracking number for the flight the dog would be on for delivery. The company called me twice within an hour's worth of time to confirm if I have sent the payment through. I sent them an email once I got home with confirmation of the Western Union number on it. They sent me back an email confirming they received the email, but I didn't receive a tracking number for the puppy so I knew where the puppy was during shipping. The man called me again and stated he received my confirmation email and wanted to confirm I received his email and I said yes I did. I then asked him where my tracking number was for the puppy and he informed me there wouldn't be a tracking number for the dog, because he was going to driven up from Kentucky instead, so no tracking number would be provided. I then said well can I have the number to the driver so I can confirm with him the puppy is going to be delivered when I asked. He then got very defensive and asked why I was asking so many questions. I then got very suspicious, so I cancelled my Western Union order right away!

Starting on Sept 14th I started receiving phone calls from this so called delivery agency asking when I want the puppy delivered. I then said I didn't order a puppy leave me alone. They have continued to call me CONSTANTLY over and over again and then I also received some weird messages from a lady named melissabrite46 from yahoo stating I was talking to her about a bulldog puppy shipping from New York! I knew everything was a scam at that point with the person selling and the people delivering! These people have been calling me from about 11 different phone numbers. Some of them don't even look like actual phone numbers, because they are not 10 digit phone numbers like any number from the United States. I had someone this morning tell me f you and burn in hell. Then he tried calling me back and saying that was his employee and he was the branch manager. I have reported a complaint onto www.ic3.gov so they are aware of the issue and I am also going to have to change my cell phone number now, because my cell phone company can't block number. I am so anger over this whole situation!!! These people really do need to be stopped!!!

This guy even went as far as giving me a website address and tracking # so I could wetern union $450 dollars. Luckly I was able to verify the address was fraud and everything about it as well.All the email address are from hotmail no business domain .Wow is all I have to say.

I too was a victim in this scam, Me and my family have been searching everywhere and we finally came upon an add on LIstedLocalmailer.com of a Bichon puppy. We contacted the seller only through e-mail and they said they lived in Allen Texas when originally the add said they lived in Illinois where I live. We received the exact same e-mails as the the person who posted them here, Me and my mother finally agreed that we trusted this person and we sent the $250.00 through Western Union. I felt this really bad feeling in my stomach but I was too excited about the thought that we would finally get the puppy we have been searching for years. I received an e-mail saying that the puppy would be home by night that same day. I didn't go to work thinking I would be waiting for the puppy. We went to the store and bought everything that the new puppy will need. We were so excited we were finally going to get a new dog. My little siblings couldn't wait, they were so happy.

I waited with my two younger siblings (both under 9yrs) until midnight but were dissapointed to see that there was no puppy arriving. I called the number +1-859-577-0525 they gave me in this website http://globalpettransport.net.tc I said I wanted to see the status on my dog. They had no real answer they just kept saying that I should have received an e-mail, but I had not received anything yet, they said they will delivered the puppy in the morning. The next morning I received an e-mail saying I needed to pay for insurance first and the lowest amount that I was to pay was close to $1,000 . This is when it hit me that I had gotten myself and my family into a scam.

At this time I called American Airlines to confirm if there really was a puppy on board on the flight that I was told by the agency the dog would travel on. The lady was really nice to me and told me that there were no animals traveling during that flight but that this was not the first time they had heard of this. She told me that the same thing had happened to another lady, that they had told her that they would delivered a dog to her from Africa paying over $1,000,but it turned out to be a scam too. I was devastated at this moment, I could not believe that this was happening I am a regular on buying things through the computer and I am always extra careful when I make my payments, but they toyed with my emotions and used me and my family through puppies, what a heartless human being. Even though we stopped at the $250.00 and no more it was still a money we had saved, we could have used it for other things but we thought we were spending it on a new member of the family one that we waited for a very long time.

I called the number again and they said I had to pay, then after I said I wanted my money back they hung up, I called many many times back but they had blocked my number because my phone calls were not getting through anymore. I called from a different phone and they did pick up, I didn't tell them who I was but I said I wanted my money back. He responded by saying that I will be getting my puppy soon that I needed to pay them more money (even though they did not know who I was and I did not tell them that I had paid for the puppy either).
I told them I was going to report them to the police and he said to go ahead that they were not afraid.

Then after searching through the internet I found this website and reading the stories I found that if was as if I was reading my own as well. I was devastated, for being trusty I had been tricked and robbed. I am a person that gives to charity and helps whenever I can, but what these people are doing is terrible and even worst they are using puppies as bait! the worst! how can they use such cute little things for their evil doings.

If anyone can advise on what I can do to help these people get caught I would really appreciate it.
I hope they will be caught and they pay for playing with the emotions of people and stealing their money. I feel for the others that have been scammed too and hopefully justice will be brought to them. Now I am not a trusty person anymore, I will never let anything like this happen again.

I indeed was almost a victim of this pet scamming thing not once but twice!! I replied to two different ads!! Both were almost identical! I seen a cute border Collie puppy. I went and wired them money and then found out it was a scam after this guy lead me on for days!!. Fortunately for me the Western Union in Cameroon Africa was closed so they couldn't pick up their money. They were leading me on all the rest of the day after I made the wire transfer. Then after reading all these sites, I knew it was a scam. I called Western Union and got my money refunded ASAP. Just look for bad spelling and allot of "ok's" in unnecessary places. Then the real kicker.... I sat home on Saturday and waited all day! Heard nothing. about 1:00 am he emailed me and said, he was busy all day and he wasnt able to do the registration or something and then he wrote the delivery men will call me in the morning.
About 6:30 Sunday night I got a call from a delivery man with broken english and then phone very much static. He was telling me to be home all day and the puppy will be delivered. Make sure I keep an eye on my emails...

So I went to work anyway that day and recieved a call from him to look out and in fifeen minutes I should get a confirmation about the delievery. Then I got-

So after I called Delta I called Western Union and luckily their Western Union was closed in Africa so they were able to refund me my money back because Ofeh Cliff (LOL LOVE THE NAME!) hadnt gotten my money yet. So I felt like I was on cloud 9 as I won. So I sent them a nasty email back and the nigerian actually responded after a day of no response and emails of me picking at him saying- you dont have much to say now do you! Wheres my dog? People like you make people like me racist! Then he responded after he was caught with this!!!!

Where you the actual person I spoke on the phone to? I would think theres a few of you doing this. Quite a few of you. You should have enough money to move your family over here by now with all the money you have taken from other people no? In a way I feel bad for you and in a way I feel bad for the people you ripped off over here for hundreds and thousands of dollars. Theres people over here that are barley making it. We are not all wealthy. The reason I wanted a dog is because Im depressed all the time crying because I have very little money to buy a dog and Im always alone. I DONT have ANY family. You gave me a little hope that I was finally going to be happy. Once again my depression hits. It saddens me your country doesnt have alot of money. You should start a charity as I said and be honest with people. Set up a web site or just randomly email people, or write people explaining your situation. I would have no problem sending YOU money if you would of told me the truth from the begining. Probably not as much as you asked but something.. Our money is worth more over there isnt it? Our people have sent over 500.00 ++++++ to you people. What are you and your buddies doing with it all? Thats quite a bit of food for a one family. You know I sat home all day on Saturday and waited for you! Then I emailed you and was almost out of this scam.!!!

I too was a victim of the puppy scam, thank goodness i stopped sending at $410. Im a freshman college student so that money would have really helped with my art supplies for a year. i also suffer from depression and was getting a puppy to cheer me up and get me outside to get adrenaline in my body. now i have no puppy and lost what is a lot of money to me. I have printed out ALL of the back and forth emails between me and 2 scammers working with each other. I prepared the conversations in a binder to send to my general attorney. I wrote emails to people in Nigeria government and said i could provide them with info to get the guy. this whole scamming thing is not far. a pricey lesson learned. to all victims out there, im with you. i never dealt with anything like this and didnt think people could be so cruel to lore you in with church mission work and puppies. i wish i heard about the whole famous puppy scam before hand. i recently deleted my facebook to get more in touch with the real world. post it and pass it around your facebook, aware everyone of the puppy scam.

Rather than help keep puppy mills in business, try going to local rescue groups and shelters to adopt a dog. Give the amount of Chihuahuas in California, I'm sure you can find a dog in need of a good home.
