876 is a Jamaican # for International Rate Charge Scam

ucansue's picture
UCAN and its sister organization Privacy Rights learned of a phone number scam that is particularly vicious because in one case the phone number USED TO BE the fraud dept. number for Experian. In the other case, a La Jolla, CA victim who was desperately trying to call the 800# listed by IDT to opt-out of information sharing, ended up with the same exact message and ended up being referred to the exact same number where "International Rates" would apply.

Until very recently disconnected, the number was 800-301-7195.

An individual called our hotline and reported this to me today. She had been given that number so she could place a fraud alert. She called it (and I've done the same to verify her story) and was referred to another number to call. She got a message that says: "The number you have dialed has a new number assistance service. For more information ... dial 1-876-536-5711. ... International rates apply.... Brought to you by Marina Telecom." Nothing is accomplished by dialing the 876 Jamaican number. When given the choice to check one of the toll-free numbers or hold, the caller gets nothing but connected for a giant waste of time -- to be followed by a third-party International call charge on the next phone bill.

Either the 800 numbers were discontinued and remained as references on other websites or the numbers were hacked into by a foreign company. UCAN could find no reference to a search for Marina Telecom.
The key words in that message are "International rates apply." But it's easy to not hear that warning.

When one individual dialed the 876 number, she later found that a fee of $7.14 was applied to her phone bill. Turns out that the area code 876 is a Jamaica area code. A Google search on area code 876 turns up many warnings about this area code being associated with scams. It's easy to hear the area code 876 and think that it's one of the toll-free area codes.

It's instructive to do a google search on the full number (800) 301-7195. It shows that dozens of legitimate web sites, including the ITRC provide that number as the fraud department of Experian. If people call that number and listen to the recorded message, they are likely to then call the 876 number and be charged the international rate of $7+.

Further, when we made multiple calls to the (800) 301-7195 number, sometimes we were directed to dial 10-15-15-800 instead of the (876) 536-5711 number.

Jamacan 876

Thanks for this on your blog,

Who wants to form a vigilanty group to go get em. If the Us Military can get the cowards in the Al-stupid-Queda then we can get the Jamacans. Maybe the ATF can help burn em out.

The are still scamming americans and none of the coward tele-con companies will help. If the US gov can listen in on all our calls, can't they id these numbers and go get them.

Of course if you are a rich coglomerate u can pay (with ur labodomized lobby) the gov to do anything, but if you are a helpless old person, you can't get the gov or att&t or Verizon or any other cowardly company, to do anything.

Walmart sweepstakes---SCAM!

I got a phone call today from Jamaica saying I had won a Walmart sweepstakes. They went on to tell me that I won two checks, one for 1.5 million dollars from Barrack Obama and the second for 2.5 million dollars from Bill Gates. They also told me I won a 2011 Mercedes Benz. They told me to look up Psalms 5 and read it. They gave me two check numbers and a packaging code and a tag number. It is a scam and DO NOT call them back. I called a hotline number and reported their asses! Nothing infuriates me more than someone giving me a Bible verse and then trying to scam me. The best thing to do is try to remember their "name" and report them like I did. It's sad to see people who believe this stuff and have to deal with threats and charges. So never call the number back and do not answer their calls! Hope this helped someone :)

info on scammers

What # did you call to report them? My grandmother was scammed by a Jamaican man claiming she won 2.5 million dollars and a 2011 Mercedes Benz. His name is Bill Cash and his phone number is 876-454-2567. Shen sent them a total of $700 dollars and now they are calling threatening her for more. I'd really like to report them. We've reported them to local law enforcement but of course there is nothing they can do since they are in another country. Please help and EVERYONE BE AWARE OF THESE JAMAICAN SCAM ARTIST!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamaican scam

I just received a call this morning from Jamaica saying I had won 2.5 million from the Prize Patrol & would I be home this afternoon to recieve it. I did not give them a definite answer one way or the other. They said I needed to pay a fee of over $700.00 to avoid IRS, etc. I told them I knew this was a SCAM & they had better be careful because I had their number on my caller ID. She encouraged me to call them back. I have not done so & glad that I have not because they also have a phone number SCAM that I read about where you are charged $1000 of dollars for the return call. Scary thing is they had not just my name but my address...should I call the police or let it go?

876 Gold Rush Casino Scam

She said she obtained his number via a computer program from water/electric bills that are paid on time.

My 91 yo dad got a call this afternoon but wasn't home. They left a message that it was John Baker with some international lottery office. More Scam Phone calls from Jamaica

Here are 2 more to add to the list, I received these calls today.

1-876-440-6067
1-876-292-5358

I won't answer them because I know no one in Jamaica. The 1-876-292-5358 number did leave a message for me to call back so I could make arrangements to collect my prize from a contest I never entered.

Mr. Henery Washington

hello to all,
i to have been called by these scammers. i live in Jasper,Alabama and i was first called at 10:30am on 9/13/2011 by a Mr. Henry Washington. i could tell right away that this guy with this had to be something crazy, just by his accent, the way he was trying to speak, it just didn't add up. sometimes these things can be comical so let him tell me all that i have won. when he was through i was a 2.5 million dollar winner and the new owner of a 2011 pearl white Mercedes Benz car with leather interior and all i had to do to receive this was to pay him a one time processing fee of $150. he stated that he had flown in from Fort Lauderdale, Florida specifically for me and that he and his associates from the lottery dept were in Birmingham, Alabama waiting on me to pay the processing fee and then they would deliver my prize to me here in Jasper. i decided to turn the tables on them because i knew it was a scam and what they do is just terrible, so i said to him to just take the processing fee out of my winnings, they couldn't do that, i said just come on over to my house and i will pay you cash when i see my prizes and the money, they couldn't do that, i said ok give me your company's website address so i can confirm everything you've been telling me, cant do that right now because their website was attacked by hackers and it could be a week or more before the site is up. everything i suggested, he couldn't do. the number he called me from was (954)-284-5995. that area code is from Broward County, Florida ... finally i told him i just didn't believe him and that if he couldn't give me some kind of tangible proof that i was hanging up, well he hung up first. however he called back 7 times according to my wife, i was at work, she told him off and as of today 9/14/2011 at 8:43am.... i haven't heard from him yet...........yet!!!! i really hope this helps whoever reads it and please don't get taken in by these guys. there just after your hard earned money and credit. Go to a legitimate lottery website and take a look at their policies for their lottery's and you will see they don't do these kinds of things these criminals are doing. thanks to everybody who helped me with their stories, i learned allot go days to everyone

Another number to add 1-876-393-4799I'

I've gotten several phone calls from 1-876-393-4799, luckily my Caller ID indicates either Jamaica or Kingston JA every time it happens and I ignore the phone call.

I don't know anyone in Jamaica and know that it's an international number - being on a fixed income I sure don't want my phone bill to be any higher than it has to be.

Don't answer this number

876 Area code

Last week I answered and was told by an accented man, saying he was from Bank of America, that I'd won a Mercedes. Caller id said "Jamaica" 876-421-1241 and I hung up on them real quick. They rang back but did not leave a message. Today there's a voice message saying they want to deliver a package to me and I should call back on 876-875-0688. No way!

SCAM

SCAM SCAM SCAM LOL. The jamaican guy is using a different number now to call u from. 876-846-6484. He said his name was Mark, and that i had won 1 million dollars, along with a brand new pearl white mercedes benz..But first i would have to pay $50 to the delivery guys before i could recieve my money. I told him to kiss my ass. He keeps calling back, but i wont answer

MONEY SCAM (876)

My mother has been scammed by these criminals for over a year. The SAD part of this whole thing is she has been totally brain-washed and still believes! The man that calls her daily to get informatin and she believes is her Friend, calls himself David Branston. He is a JOKE! I have spoke to him several times, and he knows that I have done my homework and refuse to believe ANYTHING he says. He has almost destroyed my family because he has completely taken over my mother's life. He doesn't want her talking to her own children. He feels threatened by me because he is afraid I will convience my mother that He is a Fraud!!!!!! He has all the information about my mother. Just recently her SS check was sent to a bank in Florida, but we live in TN. When she contacted SS office about this matter, they told her that someone called with all her information and had it changed. It has been a Nightmare!!!! We have had to have it put in the computer that any changes made has to been done in person at our local SS office. The Scammers will DO ANYTHING for YOUR MONEY! I hope our goverment will step up to bat for our elderly people that are completely being scammed by these people. It is a disgrace... I have contacted the FBI,TBI, and our local police. I am at my witts end. Can anyone give me any additional information that I can try??? I do hope that by telling my story that hopefully it can help someone else.

My 75 year old mother is

My 75 year old mother is going thru a similar situation as your mother with these thieves!!! Her scammer called himself David, from Jamica we think, scammed her our of at least $4000 last week. He had her believing every word he said. We could not convince her otherwise. He was her "friend" and somehow we were the enemy!!!! I thought it was going to destroy our family as well. He filled her mind with so much crap she still thinks he has money for her and he will some how get it to her. How cruel!!! They're evil. There has to be some way to stop them!!!!1

Re: MONEY SCAM (876)

Donna,

How old is your mother? If she is a senior citizen I would hire an attorney who specializes in Elder Law, and petition the court to appoint a conservator to oversee your mom's financial affairs. Your mom is clearly impaired and cannot exercise sound judgment in money matters.

I say this as the court-appointed guardian for my elderly father, who is also a victim of a Jamaican scam. By all means keep law enforcement in the loop, but understand that there is little they can do to stop the scammers because they are operating outside of the United States.

Take my advice and shift your focus from stopping the scammers, to cutting off their money supply. This is what our family did by obtaining conservatorship. After tying everything else, it is the only strategy that has worked.

Keep fighting,

Aug 9th, 2011 Jamaican Scam New Number

876-433-6703. This is the most recent number that they are using to call people. But this time they are also wanting to know when you will and will not be home and if you could have the cash ready to give to the fedx delivery guy. First and formost, you never have to pay a fedx person for a delivery, second there ain't no way in hell that i would ever tell someone when i won't or will be home...idiots. We reported it to the police department and they had the FBI contact us about it. They aren't playing with this scam at all.

Jamaican Scam

I am a daughter of someone being scammed. I have already sent a letter to the attorney general in my state and also the representative in my parents district so hopefully the government will step up and help people to stop these scammers. My parents sent $150 through western union money transfer to Jamaica to a Kenroy Samnels. They called back to say they did not get their money and they need that money so that they could deliver a Mercedes Pearl white and $4,000. I happened to stop in after I got out of work and they called so I took the phone and spoke with a "Jack Robison" and he told me that the money did not go through and we were to go there and send it to a "Desreen Bennett" HE also said that he was from the American Prize Patrol and International Company. My brain was going about 90 miles an hour, I was thinking that if the money did not go through that I could get my parents money back for them. So I got off the phone with this man and took my parent to where they sent the money, the woman behind the counter said that the money had not been returned there but that we could call the western union office. so I went to my car and called on my cell phone. The gentleman at western union was very helpful and said that the money had been put on hold and that he could sent it back to the agent office so my dad could get his money back. We filled out a fraud report. then when I got home I sent the letters out. I also looked up the numbers that they had used they are as follows:
917-737-7131 this comes up as a land line in New York on Manhattan and the carrier is listed as Bandwidth Com Clec
500-013-2604 this comes up as Personal communication service.
876-893-0838 Jamaica
876-449-5653 Jamaica
718-484-8695 this comes up as a land line in Brooklyn New York with the carrier being Cablevision Lightpath
718-552-2149 comes up as a land line in kings county Brooklyn New york with the carrier as Verizon New York Inc.
561-623-7368 comes up as a land line in West Paln Beach Florida withthe carrier being Mci metro Ats, Inc Florida

I checked my parents caller ID and logged 54 calls from them on 9/6/2011 as of today 9/7/2011 they had called 20 more times and they are getting nastier with every call. they have threatened my dad that they were going to come and blow his head off. I contacted the State Police but there is nothing they can do. There must be something someone can do to stop these people.

why can't someone do something

My parents now owe 1900.00 hundred dollars in phone charges because of these calls I am not quite sure how this happened but they are in their 70's and were getting phone calls daily the athorities could not help the phone company said they could not block these calls or stop them from calling they did not even offert any kind of help as to what they could do not to incur these charges as I can tell I am so confused and how do they get their targets because reading over these posts they seem to strike the elderly every time these numbers are 876-479-3440' 876-445-6844 & 876-431-9761 I do not know what to do for them do we go to a different phone company if we get a new number will they find that number this is crazy...

scam

I just recieved a call He said i won 1.4m and mercedes but i have to send $75 dolars to
Mr.dwyer kenoye thru western union. I ask the web site he said the web site is down.
And he said the money is coming from american cash award. He gave address W.gate hills ST.James

My inlays are dealing with

My inlays are dealing with this scam right now. The phone numbers being used are 876-455-5758, 876-872-7729, and 876-465-4916. Initially they were told they had won a Mercedes and 10.5 million dollars but in order to get the "prizes" they first were told to pay $40 then $300 and somehow they got a hold of my father in laws credit card information, his social security number and their address. My in laws even changed their phone number but within 1 day the scammers had the new number. These people even threatened to put 4 bombs under their house and blow them up if they didn't pay by 6:30pm tonight.so not only are my in laws being harassed but they are having their identity stolen by these people and being threatened!

David Washington 876-897-5205

Same thing different #. I received a called and they sd I won 25.5 mill, just had to send him 250.00 dollars and that would pay for the process taxes and having it UPSed to my house. "David" called me 3 or 4 times. Very unfriendly, almost like a collection agent. Last time he called told him to give me his information and if he checked out I would send him any amount of money he wanted. I asked the name of the primary company the address and the DBA since they were running a lottery.. He said in a very bad accent with children screaming in the background "f--k you" and hung up. lol... not very smart, but very persistant.

They have been calling me for

They have been calling me for the last 6 months on my house phone and my cell phone. At first they were using a number but this time they used a blocked number. This is getting really creepy. I'm not so much scared as I am annoyed with the constant harassment. I made the mistake this time of not checking the caller ID before I answered this time. They seem to know everything about me and that they are coming to my house. Can't something be done about this? I mean I said that I wasn't interested and hung up after I finally was told what the call was about. They called me back 5 times now.

Jamaican Scam..I'm scared

They say they know who I am and where I live. They have $900,00+ for me and I am to deposit money on a 'Greed Dot'Card with their accont numbers on it.
( whatever this is). I tell them I know who they are and 'give it' up but theypersist in profanity and threats now. I am disabled with minimal brain damage and have very little short term - memory, can't follow through much to do any more than the calls to the FBI, FCC,FTC and was advised that they didn't have time to help individuas but I should change my phne #.
I can monitor calls and have unplugged my housephone for awhile, am able to see their incoming calls 50+ since 08/08/012. Jamaican and non-Jamaican numbers.
They are able to re-route calls from non-Jamaicn phone nmbers, especialy New York numbers so beware. They are also usein throw-away phones and the number comes-up 'unavilable 1'. So beware and DON'T call back or they charge you humdreds of dollars for the calls.

Please advise me. through this forum. help!.I have done all I can do and the authorities say to call local Police if I feel threatened...whatever that means to them!
What should I do? We're only using cellpones now and they can get these numbers too, I undrstand. That our great Goernment can do nothing is a travesty.
I was told my geographic area was being targeted...how can #77 or #78 help me?
a Senior who is scared.

Re: Jamaican Scam . . . I'm scared

As the guardian of a elderly scam victim, I can assure you that you need not be frightened of these fraudsters. Their threats are as phony as their promise that you have won $900K.

The best advice I can offer, is to ignore them. Sadly, computer-based phone technology enables them to fool your Caller ID and make it look like they are calling from anywhere, even from the area code where you live. Which is to say that #77 or #78 will not do you much good. For every number you block, they can get through using a fake number.

Sweepstakes and Lottery scam

I also got a call from 876-506-6757. Peter Brown telling me on my ans machine that I won a Mercedes and $700,000 and to call back. This was the maybe the 8th call from a 876 with the same line. With all these different phone numbers that they are using, they obviously have some way of generating new numbers to call people.

I won 2.5 million and a mercedes...and gas & Insurance!

Ridiculous! Here's some new numbers I didn;t see on this site. I already reported to ICE.
I Received calls this morning from Tim Mathews at 1-876-453-4726 and they asked me to call back 1-876-508-8966 when I had gotten a $250 green dot money back scratch card. I didn't do it, of course. I hope these people are caught. It's so wrong on so many levels.

These calls are constant. we have changed numbers, cell phones sim cards and so far nothing has helped . There was close to $300 of charges from these calls on the phone bill which we pay for her. AT&T has been very helpful in tryign to deal w/ the problem but so far it hasn't helped. Any ideas would be appreciated!!

American Cash Awards 857-243-8156,and American Money Corp. 510-230-0891 and Mega Bucks Million at 876-373-1188.All these calls were made by the same man with a strong India accent "Peter James". Cash Awards 800-715-2377 said he was with Publ. Clearing House .Not a chance .With all these phone calls, I was promised 2.5 million dollars, needing to go to Western Union first...and so the story goes on...

August 24, 2011

I spoke to Mr Robert and the exact same conversation took place with me also. He told me he was waiting at the Airport for me to Sign some paperwork and to receive my Price money and vehicle "Chevy Siveraldo". I asked him to tell me my name and he ran around the question so I told him that I knew this was a scam and he could not pull the wool over my eyes. As a matter of fact I has called my phone 3 times since I have typed this paragraph and by the way the numbet is

Also now im getting one from a BENJAMIN BUSH and his number is 1-876-299-4144 and somtimes states he's from GLOBAL PRIZE INTERNATIONL or from the government, saying you have to pay taxes before you can recieve the prize also having to send money Via Western Union. so thanks, for the info. Good looking out,and also: be on a lookout for these name's and numbers.

I just received a call from

I just received a call from this number insisting on speaking to my husband (who is disabled and housebound, and who is confused by scams more often than most). I repeatedly asked the business he was with, and got no response. I asked about 10 times what business they are with, and finally handed my husband the phone, said it is a scam probably and they refuse to say what business they're with. He took the phone and the person told him they'd call back later.

Las Vegas UPS driver Scam of 1.5 million dollars :(

I just got a call from Private name Private number it was a man with a heavy accent and a phone that was fading in and out. He said his name was Mike Anderson and he was going to be dlivering a crtified 1.5 Million dollar check to me in the morning but i had to go to Walgreen and buy a 125 dollar green dot card and give the 14 digit number off the back of the card to him to verify that it was actually me. He stated that i had paid my bills on time in grand Rapids and my number was entered into a sweepstakes and my number was picked. he said the lawyer of the company needed the 14 digit number off the green dot card though before he could deliver the check to me... this is so annoying and he said hed call back tomorrow to see if i got the 125 dollars to buy the green dot card even though i said over and over im not interested and i think its a scam, i dont want him to call back and i dont know what to do to make him stop calling since its a private name and private number :(

To the person above

Put a caller block for private numbers and numbers you do not want to be bothered with,MR number works great for me on my android, and the wife uses it too. Or rejister your number at Register@donotcall.gov that will stop the calling.

Scam from JM

Today I received the first call in the a.m. telling me that I had won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes & all I had to do was go to Walmart & get a money order for the lawyer. Phone number is 876-862-1590. Why don't these people get out & get a real job instead of trying to SCAM us.

BLOCK the Scam Caller

Here is how you BLOCK the Scammer.
If you have 'Caller ID' with your phone service, you probably have the easy ability to block the Jamaica calls. This is because they do not show the caller's name in your phone's ID window (they are "anomimous" callers).
Simply pick up your phone, when you hear a dial tone, press *77 and hang up. Any 'anonimous' caller (without a name that will show in your ID window) can not ring your phone. Note: To cancel this block, press *87.

Calls from Jamaica // 876-261-5615/876-487-1761

didn't realize a scam going on, just thought it was a wrong number....never answered calls when I saw on caller ID as I don't know anyone in Jamaica or travelling there....calls have been coming in for about a month, not leaving any messages til last week.....I couldn't understand anything he said other than "important" and something about "credit"....left another number for me to call, which I never did. tonite, another call came in "out of area", which I thought was my friend from guatemala (the ONLY calls I receive that are "out of area")....so I answer the phone & lo & behold, if it's not the same voice that was left on my answering machine, asking for me. I told him he had the wrong number and hung up.....I'm not sure if there were different numbers than what I listed above, as I deleted them...

1-876-478-3690

just got into a heated conversation with the people from this number, the say they are with winners international and told my mom she had won 2.5mil and a Mercedes, she told them she thought it was fraud and hung up on them only to have them call back 8 times in a row until i finally picked up and told a man with a hindu accent not to call my house any more. he told me there was nothing i could do about it, so i called my local pd and had them call the number and leave a voice mail for me to take us off of their call list keep an eye out on these guys folks they are VERRY aggressive.

1-876-880-9111 (Don't call this number)

Just got a phone call from some jerk who called himself John Brown. He spoke with an accent, sounded like he was in a room full of telemarketers as there was lots of noise on the other end and said I'd won $2.5 million and a Mercedes. That I was to go to my local Walgreen's and purchase some green banking card for $195.00 (this portion was hard to understand because of his accent and the connection) and then I was supposed to call him back and he would meet me or send the car down with my "gifts". Of course, all this was to remain confidential. The scam is calling them back so that they can charge exhorbitant phone rates for the return phone call. I traced the area code to Jamaica. Someone down there affiliated with the local phone company must be involved or else how could they be making any money from this scam, unless the Jamaican phone company lines have been hacked into. Not savvy in this area; just speculating. Anyway, I threatened him with my FBI agent cousin, whereupon he said I could speak with their FBI agent(s) affiliated with this "charity". He said the FBI couldn't do anything about it as he wasn't an illegal. I told him that it was illegal to conduct phone scams and then he hung up on me. I'll report it to the ICE website.

7/16/11: My mother, is

7/16/11: My mother, is staying with my sister and I at this address while she recovers from an illness. At approx 12:45 pm Sat, 7/16 mother's phone rang with a blocked number. it rang again several minutes later and i picked it up (my mother was at a dialysis appointment). The person spoke with a West Indian type accent. He told me (thinking I was my mother), that I had won $250,000 and a new Mercedes Benz. The delivery was on it's way to me and that I needed my confirmation number. He told me that I should go to Western Union and obtain a receipt with a 10 digit number on it, and that this receipt should be presented to the driver to obtain my merchandise. I asked him how much the receipt would cost me and he told me the cost was $195.16. He was very patient, and allowed me to locate a Western Union location. He also repeated several times, very slowly, his contact information to ensure I had it written down correctly. I asked him is he was certain I had won this prize and he said yes, all I needed was to get this Western Union receipt. I asked him if I should call him when I had it, or would it be better to call him as I was leaving. He said I should call after I got the receipt. while he was repeating the information, I looked up the FBI local phone number. I then called the number in Jamaica from my personal cell phone, which went into a voice mail with a male voice with a West Indian accent, identifying the number as the Mega Million center. I hung up. While still on my mother's phone and engaged with this man, my phone rang with a blocked number and I answered it. My mother's caller had hung up. At the same time, I had called the Los Angeles FBI office and was in the process of being transferred to the Fraud desk. I conferenced in the Jamaica caller with the person at the FBI fraud desk, at which point the Jamaica caller hung up. The FBI representative recommended I submit my complain on this website. My mother has not lost any money to my knowledge however I will check with her this afternoon to confirm this as well as see if she has received other calls of this nature.

My mother is 78 and these

My mother is 78 and these people call from 876 all day and night. i've reported it to the local authorities and I've been told it's very hard to catch them. Every day they call and try to get her to wire $50 to $300 for a large sum of money or a new Mercedes BEnz. My father is elderly and extremely ill. When he answers the phone they curse him and ask that he put my mom on the phone. I would appreciate any assistance with this matter. My mother has not lost any money yet simply because she does not drive. However, these people sent a taxi to her home why my mother was at the doctor, she called me and I told her not to go anywhere. I'm extremey upset that they people play on the mines of elderly people. Again if I can get any assistance with this I would truly be thankful.

JAMAICAN SCAM "WINNERS INTERNATIONAL"

I forgot to post the name he used. "DON WASHINGTON"

JAMAICAN WINNERS INTERNATIONAL SCAM

I see we have all been launched in the same boat here. Here is a couple new numbers I haven't seen in this blog yet. Numbers " I " have been dealing with for a couple days. (876)503-2004 and (876)503-8283. Of course when I answered the call it said " BLOCKED CALL " one time, then " UNKNOWN CALLER " the next time. The numbers came from talking to a guy (hard to understand) that said I had won prizes in "WINNERS INTERNATIONAL". The prizes were a new cell phone. a BMW car valued at @ $ 35,000, and last but not least a "CERTIFIED CHECK FOR $ 2.5 MILLION DOLLARS".While discussing this with him, he had stated he was at a certain address delivering another cash prize to the owner of the property. I google mapped the address and drove straight to it and knocked on the door. When the man answered the door, I asked if a man had just been there to give him a cash prize. The man said no and I was the first person that day to come knocking. I told him the story of the man on the phone and that he had said he was there. I thanked him and appologized for disturbing him and proceeded back to my residence. Of course that gave the Jamaican plenty of time to get there, seeing as I probably passed him on the way. And yes, I was asked to send "$268.04" via" Western Union" to a certain person, at a certain location, and use a certain password. When I confronted him with what I had just done, he tried to convince me I had it all backwards. He also gave me another address he planned to go to as soon as he completed this task (me). This is how good these guys are: All the addresses and names of the people were dead on. " HAS ANYONE COME UP WITH A SURFIRE WAY TO STOP THE CALLS?" Thanks, Roundman99

Call from 867-404-0956

I received a call from 876-404-0956, and I did not answer because I do not know who was calling. I like the policy if it is important they will leave a message. The man on the voice mail said his name is Davey Gonsalez (sp?) from the S Truck delivery service (?never heard of it?) and I should be getting an unclaimed package. He also said that I should call him back at this number 876-417-8858. Hmmm...Sounds fishy. Most delivery services digitally track a package when is delivered or attempted to be delivered, so if he works for the delivery service why should I call him? He should know when delivery has taken place. Plus no notices were left at my door, something EVEN USPS does if it is a package. After reading all your comments, I am confident that this is a scam. Thank you to all of you for reporting the scams.

1 (876) 476-0204, 1-(876) 365-9450 and 1(970) 503-7758 (Fax#)

I received a call like the others promising money and car from lottery winnings. They gave me instructions paying $250.00. I told them I did not have the money; that I had very limited income. They then said I could give it to charity, and gave me the above fax number. Then they tried to encouraged me to take the prize. I told them I would see what I could do, to call me in 10 min. They did after i red this web page. I told them I was not interested and that I knew it was a scam and have contacted the FBI. They hung up on me before I can say "I" of FBI.

Lottery Scammer. . .Almost made off with $2000

My Grandma recieved a lottery letter here in Michigan asking her to send in $10 which she did., she kept receiving letters saying she won at least $10,000 but up to 5 million well of course it was a scam and she refused to listen to us and still I think isn't . . not sure of the whole story yet as this all came to a head today. This Jammacian SOB called my Grandma at 230am wanting her to go to Walmart buy a moneypak for $1000 and then he would meet her in the parking lot follow her home and they could celebrate her winning 1.5 million dollars. Well, she said she would in the am (this was friday) . . .anyhow she did purchase the moneypaks. . but luckily my Aunt & mom intervened. But this SOB kept calling her every 5 minutes no matter who answered the phone, threatened him etc. His name is supposedly Meyers his number which he or his wife answers is 876-475-4953 The local police just told my Grandma it's a scam and if you feel threatened at anytime just call 911 if they show up. We changed her phone number but this isn't over. . . I know we can't really do anything but I will try to do whatever needs to be done to protect others family.

Foreign scams in general

So I guess that, as bad as the US economy is right now, it's still considered honorable (by these scammers) to rip us off, since we're still probably better off than a lot of them are.... just like rich old men with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel have lots of women wanting to marry them (especially foreign women). Sigh. There's a sucker born every minute.

Hell, I'd love it if Publishers Clearing House would pull up to my apartment and hand me a Big Check. But even though I enter every time I can, I know the odds are low. I also won't enter any alleged "sweepstakes" which asks you to pay to enter.

Good day to you all. Don't fall for any rip-offs.

Jamaican Scam - "Mr. James Jefferson" - (876) 438-1406

I don't think I had heard of this particular scam before, even though (as stated above) it's been going on for nearly the past 20 years.

"Mr. James Jefferson" left this message was left on my answering machine. I got up this afternoon, retrieved the message, could barely understand him through the thick accent. I called the number, asking what this was about... he said I'd won a prize. Asked him where he was... he said he was in Las Vegas.

I told him this is bullshit, and not to call here again. The conversation lasted maybe a minute at the most. I called AT&T, as I didn't want to be charged for it; they told me to call back when I get my next phone bill, and they would "see what they could do." I don't think a one-minute conversation is going to be billed at hundreds of dollars, but still, I don't want to pay for it.

Well, next time one of these assholes attempts to call, I know not to return the call. We work nights and sleep days, so the answering machine will catch it if one of these schmucks attempts to call here again.

Thanks for putting up this website.

Scam Calls from 876-437-3700

I have been receiving numerous phone calls from this phone # 876-437-3700 and of course they say you've won this great prize. Is there a way to get these calls stopped/blocked?

these people called my mother in law. they had very heavy accents and said they worked out of florida. they wanted a 500$ money order in exchange for a check. she almost fell for it. we live in the high desert of california and have reported it to local authorities. now we have to call and see the phone bill situation. not looking forward to that call!

Jamaica calls

Jamaica Farewell

I won $180,000 today, according to a caller from 876-860-6162. When I explained that I would happily share this information with the state attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission, the caller seemed distressed. However, this did not stop the next three callers from the same area code who also told me that I had won various amounts.

So, no doubt this is my lucky day.

another scam caller

Keep getting calls from a James Cooper wanting $150(for IRS tax and fee) sent via Western Union to a Simone Malcolm in St James Jamaica. Then He would fly in from Las Vegas and hand me a $5 million check. He was going to fly in on a private UPS jet....he keeps calling even at 6am. The number is 1-876-508-8086 and shows to be from Kingston JM.

Scammers/harassers

We got a call from a man who also said he was from Ca. and my husband had won $100,000. I told my husband it was a scam and to hang up and I chewed the man out. The numbers he calls from are 876-259-2517 and 876-377-7457 and he is in Jamaica not Ca. I have done everything I can to get this man's name. I have reported him to the US Embassy in Jamaica and hope that they can help me. He says his name is Rev. Benjamin---Yeh right! Anyway, he keeps calling here even after I have called him every bad name I can think of to call him and then some. He starts calling at 8 am every morn. and doesn't stop till about 9 at night. I have found a web site that has traced the phone numbers and found his name, address, etc. but they want to charge me to get it. Thanks for the tip on the FTC and Attorney General's Office. I haven't tried them yet. My husband is retired but it's not age that makes him a target for these scammers. He's always been naive and trusting and has been the victim of some minor scams in the past. Had I known then what he was doing I could have helped him not to fall for those scams. I'm lucky I was home the day this guy called, or he probably would have given this guy the bank acct. number and who knows what else. I hope they catch and prosecute this guy and if the US Embasy in Jamaica can't help me it might be worth it to pay that numberinvestigator.com website to give me this guys name and address. I just wish the guy would stop calling here and the only help I get from the phone co. is to change our phone number. Why should we have to pay to change our number and have it unlisted when we aren't the ones doing anything wrong. Does anyone out there know of anything else we can do to identify and catch this guy. All suggestions are appreciated as long as they're legal.

75-Year-Old Female is a Victim

Like so many of you, I also know what it is like to have a loved one be the victim of one of these Jamaican scams. I have a dear friend who is 75 who has been contacted recently many times by people (all of them foreigners) claiming that she has won anywhere from $175,000.00 to $5 million. She gave some of them my cell phone number so that they could call me because I understan things better than she does. Every one of them who called had a number with an "876" area code, except one whose number read "private number." This friend does not have Caller ID. All of them claimed that she had won money and/or a new C Class Mercedes or a new BMW, and that to receive her prizes she must either wire them anywhere from $100 to $800 or have the money put on a Green Dot Visa card. I recognized right away that this must be a scam because I had read on the internet many times that if a sweepstakes company wants you to send them money in order to get money or other prizes that you have won, DON'T DO IT!!! IT'S A SCAM!!! It's also illegal to do so. Also there was one particular man whom she trusts completely who has told her that he works for Publisher's Clearing House. However, I printed off some information from PCH's website that stated that they never contact anyone by phone about money he/she has won. They only contact a winner by Certified Mail, Express Mail or in person along with the Prize Patrol. The decision is up to them. They never let anyone know ahead of time by phone that he/she has won. I showed this information to my friend (I'll call her Jane.). Well, Jane did not believe that this man whom she trusts so much could be part of a scam operation. She and he are boyfriend/girlfriend even though they've never met and have known each other only 4 weeks. She told him that she had been praying that the Lord would send her a good man, and he claims that he had been praying that the Lord would send him a good woman. He says he is a Christian and that he loves the Lord, and of course Jane does, too. They find it hard to believe that their beliefs are so much alike. He is a black American. His father was from the Bahamas and his mother was white and from California. Jane is white. Whenever he calls me on my cell phone his number shows as an "876" number. Last Friday Jane wired him $800. This was all the money she had as it was the amount of her Social Security check. The money was supposedly to pay a "fee" so that she could receive her money and her car. He was going to bring it and her new C Class Mercedes on a private jet the same day. However, it began raining so hard that the plane could not take off, so he did not get to bring it. He also had been wanting to meet her so badly and spend some time with her. Jane's utility bill was to be paid on Friday, June the 3rd. She did not have the money to pay it and today, Wednesday, June the 8th, her electricity was cut off. On Monday, June 6th, her bank account became overdrawn because a loan company to which she was to make a payment to on Friday, June the 3rd, sent her check through the bank and, of course, it did not clear. The way this loan company works is they have you pay the full amount you owe plus some for interest, then you can reborrow the full amount if you need to so that all you actually end up paying is some interest and they give the check that you wrote them the previous month back to you and have you write them a new check. Of course, if you don't come in to pay them, they send the check through your bank.
I find it so hard to believe that Jane still believes that she can fully trust this man. Especially after I read her all of that information that I printed off PCH's website and left with her to read, and even more so because she wired him money for some sort of "fee" and she still has not received her "supposed" money and car. I guess love IS blind. I will be praying for all of the victims of these scams and also praying that no one else falls victim to one of them.

Jamacian scam

I work at a local grocery store that does Western Unions. An elderly woman needed help to fill out the form. I thought, strange, she's sending money to Jamaica. I asked if this was a friend and she said no..she's not suppose to speak about why she's sending the money. I asked her several questions and she became very upset with me saying, "it would be my fault she didn't get her reward". I called the 876 number 2 times and left 2 messages. I tried my best to explain to this dear elderly woman she was being scammed. She said she had already been scammed before but this time she believed them and had faith. For 15 min. I continued telling her there was no money and even another employee overheard and explained that her mother was also a victim of the scam. The elderly woman left, taking with her the western union paper and saying i would be responsible for her not getting her money and she would just go somewhere else. I immediately contact western union. I had copied all of her information down on what, who and when...I gave everything to Western Union Fraud Department. Believe it or not...I actually rec'd a call from jamaica. The man asked if i had called him..i began yelling "why do you take money from old people..." he said...what do you mean...i asked to speak witH " KENTON STEWART"...he aid I am Mr. Anderson, I said "YOU ARE TERRY ANDERSON"....he said "WHO ARE YOU"...i said "....I'm WESTERN UNION!!!".....needless to say he hung up!

Thankful my son was here while I talked to Mr.Reid on the phone and heard all about how I had been chosen to receive 50 million dollars because I paid my bills on time and it was compliments of Mega Million Lottery and the money was left over money after the state was paid as well as the actual lottery winner!! Wow! How lucky can I get!!!!
The call came up as being from New York State on the ID. When called back, he refused to answer any questions...then he left the 876 number on his voice mail. My son looked into the 876 number. Lo and behold!!........
Mr. Reids number, turns out, is 876-467-1314 and where from? You guessed it! Kingston, Jamaica!
My son is a policeman.
How wonderful it would be if it wasn't a scam.....right folks?

Received a call at 6:30 am, wanting to talk to my husband, I asked if this was the company that told my husband that he won $2 million dollars and a new car? I also asked where he was calling from, he told me CA. I told him that I already reported his scam to the Attorney General's Office, he proceeded to cuss me out. The jerk did not realize that I have caller ID. I just hung up, they call everyday. The other number related to this is 876-278-9231, caller id. We also received a call from a Mr. Washington out of LAS VEGAS, his number is 702-418-1979. Mr Washington wanted us to get a Green Dot card at our local Walgreens and put $200 on it. The next day my husband pretended that he got, Mr Washington was so happy, he wanted the 14 diget number off the back of the card, My husband told him as soon as the new car is in our driveway and the $2,000,000. check is cashed he would give him the numbers. What a joke, too bad we can't do anything about this.

876 area code call

A woman with a difficult-to-understand accent called. My caller ID showed "Jamaica" and "876-593-7500." She said something, I said asked her to repeat, and she again said something that sounded like my name. When I said, "This is she," the woman hung up.

Perhaps this new scam is a way to get people to call back to find out what is going on.

876-466-2237

I have been receiving telephone calls from and individual stating his name is Mr. Anderson and that I have won the Austrailian lottery. I told him both times he called me at 11pm at night to stop calling me. This individual has continued to call me every day for the last three days, multiple times a day. Today, 5/30/11, I advised him that I would file a report as well as a complaint with the attorney general's office. He kept telling me to just listen to him for a minute. Finally I had to break out my "mom" voice and yell at him saying to never call me again and take his scam else where, hes not going to get my money. As I was continuing to yell some not so nice words at him, he hung up on me. A short time later he had the nerve to call me back! My husband had finally had enough and called the number. The male with a heavy jamacian accent answered stating it s was something enterprises. After my husband told him to stop calling me, he replied with "F*ck you Man" and hung up! What the heck! I certainly hope this dumba$$ stops calling me, I've had enough.

876-259-7963 Scam call from Kingston Jamaica

Same type of phone call - very illiterate individual claiming to be William Thomas working for the claims department of UPS to show up here on Memorial Day (!) with a certified check for my husband's winnings in Las Vegas! I told him it was a scam and hung up on him. He actually called back and told me to call the home number and I would get more information. I did call just out of curiosity and he had given me the number of the NY Lottery! It would be laughable but good people still fall for these scams and get hurt!

My mother got scared

My mother recieved a call from publishers clearing house, stating that she won 2 million dollars and a 2011 toyota camry. She said the man, had a heavy jamacian accent and he said he was from Las Vegas. He said his name was James Taylor. He told her to get properly dressed, and go to the nearest Kmart, to western union him 750.00, for the new car. My mother goes, Im not going out, and Im calling police. He goes, Im a minister and I would never steer you wrong. The police came , and my mother was soo nervous, she thought that her house was going to get robbed. When they called the 876 number..It ended up being an international number. Im just soo happy, my mother didnt fall for this scam.

I asked who he was and he said something about being a lottery dispensing agency and I assumed he was going to tell me he was sending me money! I quickly told him "I don't want anything and don't call again, to which he asked WHY! I told him he was fraudulent and he said no and I hung up on him and have heard nothing else. I searched the reverse directories and Intellius says it is a cell phone. I did not pay for anymore information. I am reporting this to Oregon Attorney Generals office. 876 Jamaican Phone Scam? .... Complain to the FTC!

If your getting annoying calls (like we've been getting) from the 876 area code (Jamaica) claiming you've won BIG MONEY, a luxury car, or something similar - DON'T SEND THEM MONEY TO CLAIM A PRIZE! .... or if you've already been scammed by these con artists & scumbags ..... consider filing a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

The FTC is aware of this and other variations of the Jamaican phone scams ..... I think they date back to around '05 or '06, below is directly from the FTC's website dated May 2009 (2 yrs and still going strong?) .... link & phone numbers below:

"A JOLT from the Blue: Jamaican Fraudsters Using Telemarketing to Target U.S. Consumers"

Fraudulent telemarketers based in Jamaica are calling people in the U.S., telling them that they’ve won a sweepstakes or foreign lottery. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Jamaican Constabulary Force say most of these promotions are likely to be phony — a trick to get you to part with some money — and they are working together to stop them.

The fraudulent telemarketers typically identify themselves as lawyers, customs officials or lottery representatives, and tell people they’ve won vacations, cars or thousands — even millions — of dollars. “Winners” need only pay fees for shipping, insurance, customs duties or taxes before they can claim their prizes.

The FTC works to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop and avoid them. To file a complaint or get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov.

Since the fed gov't has known about this and it's still going on .... consider contacting your local newspaper(s) and/or TV station(s) to do a story on this subject ..... help get the word out to folks - don't fall for the 876 Jamaican phone scam(s)!

WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?

AFTER READING ALL OF THESE POST, I CAN SAY THAT MY FAMILY WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO AVOID HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH OF THIS. I WAS VISITING MY GRAND PARENTS WHEN THE PHONE RANG. MY GRANDFATHER HAD SPOKEN WITH A GENTLEMAN BY THE NAME OF MICHAEL WASHINGTON AND HE WAS CALLING HIM BACK TO FINALIZE THE ARRANGEMENTS OF THE 2 MILLION DOLLARS HE HAD BEEN PROMISED FROM SOME RANDOM UNKNOWN SWEEPSTAKE. MY GRANDFATHER ASKED ME TO PICK UP AND LISTEN TO THE CONVERSATION. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD HIM IT WAS FRAUD, AND GOOGLED THE 876 NUMBER FROM MY CELLPHONE AND RED FLAGS WERE RAISED. THE MAN ASKED MY GRANDFATHER TO WIRE $899 TO SOMEONE IN WASHINGTON D.C. AND SEEMED FRUSTRATED THAT MY GRANDFATHER COULD BARELY MAKE OUT WHAT HE WAS SAYING. HE CALLED AGAIN AND I ANSWERED AND RESPECTFULLY ASKED THAT HE BE REMOVED FROM THIS CALL LIST AND THAT I WAS AWARE THAT THIS WAS FRAUD. I WENT ON TO EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT MY GRANDFATHER IS OF SOUND MIND AND THAT HE WOULD NOT BE A VICTIM. HE INSISTED ON SPEAKING WITH MY GRANDFATHER, AND LATER CALLED THAT DAY PRETENDING TO BE A MEMBER OF MY GRANDFATHERS CHURCH. I ASKED HIM HOW HE WOULD FEEL IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED AND HE SAID "LISTEN YOU "D*$KHEAD PUT MR. HENRY ON THE PHONE" I TOLD HIM NO AND THIS WOULD BE THE LAST TIME THAT SOMEONE ANSWERED OR RESPONDED TO HIM. HE SAID THAT THEY WERE OUTSIDE OF MY GRANDPARENTS HOUSE AND I TOLD HIM THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE I AM STANDING OUTSIDE AND THERE IS NO ONE THERE. HE THEN ASKED ME WHAT I KNEW ABOUT AK47'S AND I TOLD HIM ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T SHOOT ME FROM ALMOST 1800 MILES AWAY. AFTER I WAS DONE AMUSING MYSELF AT HIS EXPENSE I TOLD HIM TO HAVE A NICE DAY AND HUNG UP. THEY ARE STILL CALLING TO THIS DAY. THERE HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF GOV'T OFFICE THAT HANDLES THESE ISSUES. I NEED ANY INFORMATION YOU GUYS CAN CONJUR UP. THANKS AND MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY FALLEN FOR THIS CRAP.

I've talked to this guy!

This guy has been calling for months. He gets very upset and foul with me for not understanding him. He also told me he knew everyone who lives in my house when I told him there was nobody here by the name he was requesting. And when he askes who he is speaking to, whatever name you give him, he immediately calls back asking for. Many times it shows Pritave Name Private Number on the caller ID, till today. I finally got a number, and found this thread. I will not and have not given him any information, but what else can I do to prevent his calls? How many numbers does he have? What applies internationally?

1st call

I just received a call from Kingston, Jamaica. The number was 876-423-0760. I did not answer the call and they did not leave a message. 5 minutes later I get 2 more calls(both I didn't answer) from the same number. No message left for me. Let's see how long this lasts.

SCAM

Allen Doolly, is at it again with the same old SCAM, the new phone number is 718 878 5629 , this COSTA RICA, do not call them!

Jamacian scam

My neighbor who is 78 got an email that she won a brand new Mercedes, long story short, she ended up sending them a total of over $8000 in 5 transactions to different locations. It was her whole pension. When she finally told me..the first person, and I googled the phone number, bam Jamaica. I agree..The establishments that wire the money should have red flags in place as well. She sent thousands of dollars cash from the Giant grocery store. 5 seperate transactions, 3 to Jamaica, one to Texas, one to New York. Can't anyone help these poor people??

jamaica scam / winston brown

My grandmother was also a victim. She has, and still is recieving calls from numerous people. Winston Brown, seems to be the ring leader. They call all through the night. I've called the police, had her phone number changed numerous times. Police tell me they really cant do any thing because its over seas. My grandmother has sent over $180,000, yes $180,000! Its very sad! I have found many money grams etc, ranging from $50- $8,000. Winston Brown even sent my grandmother $50 with instructions to send it another place. I have talked to all of the different people on the phone claiming to be lottery notifiers. One even posed as jamaican police telling me to stop interfering with the business talk between them and my grandma, and in complete detail how they would kill me. They know all of our family members name's and where we live in detail. Mr.Brown talks passionately to my grandma that he will marry her, and he love's her. To this day they call, in my poor grandma's mind they are real, and she will get her money one day. What can be done? Word needs to spread about this. My grandmother alone has sent enough money for it to be a strong legit company. No telling how many have been had, Im sure there will be more in the future

Grandma scammed,

So sorry to hear about this. This just happened to my elderly neighbor that I look in on. I told him not to answer the phone (as he has caller I.D.). He sent money as well. He said he just talked to the Sherriff and FBI here and they took a report. They said they could not do anything because the scam was from out of the country. I told him to change his phone number to unpublished, but you are indicating that did not work. In your case and in others a power of attorney needs to be in place so that some of these elders cannot squander their hard earned money. Unfortunately, for my neighbor he recently married a young gold digger and is being taken everyday, right in front of his nose.

Re: jamica scam / winston brown

Mr. Doe,

Your grandmother is clearly impaired and unable to exercise sound judgment in money matters. Your family needs to hire an Elder Law attorney immediately, and petition the court to appoint a conservator (guardian) to protect your grandma's remaining assets. I am telling you because this is what our family had to do to prevent my elderly father (and, in turn, my mother) from losing everything to these scumbags.

You need to HIRE A LAWYER, RIGHT NOW. By all means notify federal authorities, but don't expect them to do anything substantial, because the crooks are operating outside of the their jurisdiction.

I feel for you - and keep fighting.

phone scam 876-280-3750

My elderly mother in OK got a phone call today from this number, a man claiming to be Roger Washington from Reader's Digest telling her that she had won a $1mil and a new luxury car; all she had to do was get $1,000.00 to
pay the taxes on the prize. He would delivery the check to her today; he was bringing a lawyer and two policemen to accompany her to the bank to get the money. She said she would need to make a phone call or two before he came, and asked him to call back in about an hour. She called the police and told them of the scam. Her caller ID showed that he called her once last week and twice after the initial call today.

876-473-9019 Jackson Law Firm

On Friday May, 6th, 2011 a man with a African accent claiming to be a Micheal Thompson called me from 876-473-9019 and told me that I had won second place and now I am entitled to $350,000 and a new black Mercedes 2010 C class. He said it was a random drawing from CVS or Wal-mart Pharmacy and that they just had my phone number. He asked for my name and address to know where my prize was to be sent. He also asked me to name a beneficiary as well. He also asked me how I felt about being a winner... I responded to him, "I do not have nothing in my possession and I do not know if you are legit so I feel skeptical about everything." (LOL) He then attempted to give me reassurance and sweet talk me swearing to God and so forth that it was legit company.

He told me all I had to do was pay a shipping and handling fee of $300 some odd dollars and I told him I do not have that kind of money. After reassuring me that I was in good hands and that he was not a scam he asked if I had a credit card. I told him I would not put any charges on my card and I am responsible. He then bargined with me asking me how much I had and if I could get $120. I told him I could borrow some money from someone. (LIES LOL) He also told me to not tell ANYONE about my "business" claiming that it was for my own protection. (Yeah right.)

He then told me to give $120 and go to CVS or Wal-Mart and send it via western union or money gram to the following:

Oschane Blackwood

181 Portland Jamaica

He said that they are sending my prize the same day and that it is important that I get the money send as quickly as possible. Because there is a holding fee by the hour. Also, the Fedex employee would escort me to my bank and make sure the $350,000 check clears. (Yeah Right)

Knowing full well this was a fraud I just played along until I asked to speak with someone else. "Thompson" supervisor "James Adams". The man pressed buttons and then pretended to be someone Mr. Adams... I knew because they had the same vocabulary, same sentence structure, and same way he approached me to reassure me. Calling me "sweetheart and such. I then asked to speak with a female or someone other employee who did not have a similar accent. They could not provide me with such person. "Mr. Adams" claimed all his female staff was out on lunch. (Conveniently) So I then yelled at him and told him I was not stupid and demanded the address of the company. He could not even spell the address he was trying to give me. He started saying the following addresses:

3128 Genessee

5348 Carter Rd Lake Mary FL

Up to this point I had been on the interweb the entire time searching for all the information they gave me. There is a Jackson Law Firm in Florida but they are not even OPEN on Fridays!!! Also I had found this website which had similar scams.

I called the real law firm and left them a voice mail. I also called the police which turned out not to be helpful at all, because they informed me that there was no crime committed. Since I had not been stupid enough to give them the money they were unwilling to even file a report. (UGH!) Which begs the question what exactly is probably cause to these morons! I also called the federal trade commission at 1-887-382-4357 and filed a report.

No one seems to want to help anyone anymore and they all turn a blind eye to what is going on and do not go after these people. It is sad and extremely frustrating... Because in the end it is just you against the world. :( Please watch out for these people.

So called PCH winner

Nearly the exact same situation occurred with me. The same person called me, he only identified himself as Michael and the phone # was 876-450-7836. He can me the attorney's name of Oschane Blackwood at 181 Portland in Jamaica WI asking me to go to Western Union or MoneyGram to send him $125.99 for a 1% processing fee, assuring me that they had paid 99% of the fees and that the 1% I was going to pay would be reimbursed to me upon receipt of the prize, which was to be $350,000 and a new 2011 Honda CRV. He was rushing me, wanted to stay on the phone w/me while I went to my car to got to the Western Union or Moneygram, wanted to walk me through the entire process. When I balked about having to pay money for a prize I had won, he told me there were other options - such as the dot card mentioned by many others on here. Anytime I tried to get specifics such as when the prize would be delivered and by whom, etc. he could not give me straight answers. When asked how I could gurantee I was not being fooled out of $126 he begged me to trust him, told me he loved me and really really really wanted me to get my prize today and reminded me time is of the essence and I needed to HURRY to go get the processing fee asap. He also pled on my faith asking me to be thankful for the blessing God has placed in my life and not be so doubtful. When I finally told him not to call me that I was not going to participate and that I looked them up on the internet and saw multiple claims of fraud he tried to argue with me. I cut him off and just asked him not to call me back. He just continued to call my phone 3 or 4 times non-stop. What is up with this?

My mom got almost the exact

My mom got almost the exact same scam today. The phone rang and it said Kingston JM. She answered it and soon, to her surprise, she learned she won a new 2010 Mercedes Benz and $350,000 from a drawing at Wal Mart. He told her she had gotten second place in some Sweepstakes. At this point i LOLd and started whispering "scam scaaaammm." My mom nodded and smiled and I went off to check the area code on the internet. I typed in "876 area code" and i discovered that scams were common with this area code. I brought out my laptop to show my mom and snickered when I saw this site and all the reports. Scrolled down a bit and, lo and behold, here's our scam! But the guy on the other end already had our address and zip code and all that good stuff so he started asking her questions such as "Are you married?" and "Do you handle your own finances?" etc, etc. He told my mom that they were stationed in a town like 8 hours from us and that we had to pay a "shipping and handling" fee of $150. Then my mom started saying things like "Usually, if you win something, you don't have to pay anything for it." He said, "Well yes, usually." and offered no explanation other than shipping and handling. So my mom just went on about paying for a prize that we'd "won" and eventually just told him flat out that it was a scam and not to call her back...Sure started off our day with a laugh =)

Thanks for your response...We want to employ a financial assistant/administrative secretary who'll handle billing and handle a full inventory of monthly billings, payments and activities routed through him/her.we are a group of business oriented people who deal primarily in home furnitures and all sort of furniture designs .we need a company assistant/secretary to help processing payments, from customers and keep records of transactions going on.The effect is our customers start sourcing for other suppliers so having a secretary always at hand has it's numerous advantages. We have lost too many deals due to this and we are trying to minimize to the least, losing our customers due to this same issue.

We sell furniture mostly here in US and in Canada .The best form of payment is via certified Cashiers checks and money orders as they are readily available. So you are required to receive and cash payments from customers in form of Cashiers Checks or Money Orders. You are to deduct 10% On every payment you get cashed & forward the balance after deducting 10% via western union or Money Gram to any of the company's regional offices, you will be contacted with the information to send the money to as soon as you get the payment cashed. This 10% will constitute your wages. Most of the buyers we work with are those we've previously handled successful transactions with, new buyers are verified personally by me so you have nothing to worry about.

An average transaction is for $1,800.00 and upwards. All charges during cashing, sending of payments and transaction completion will be deducted from the balance after you have gotten your pay and NOT deducted from your pay so your pay is fixed on the amount cashed per transaction, which is 10% of every payment you cash.If you can handle as many as 3 transactions per week, but you'll be handling one(1) initially to see how efficiently you can carry your tasks out and complete transactions. On 3 transactions you're sure of nothing less than $600 weekly. The hours are flexible and you can decide when you want to work,we don't need you online 24/7 just online on a daily basis and check your emails regularly. Working with us will also not disturb your other jobs as we require that applicant only have easy access to the internet,be reachable easily and respond/carry out instructions sent as soon as possible.

Another SCAm Call 876-861-6724

The call from 876-861-6724, and claimed that I won 5m and need to take action to claimthe prize. I told the guy that I don't recall I ever participated in any drawing, and ask which organization he representing. He said he is calling on behalf of Reader's Digest, I further ask for the Reader's Digest number which I can confirm about the prize, he gave me this number 330-548-4210, At end he told me to put $1000 for processing fee to claim the prize, and have to be done by today. After I googled with the area code 876 it showed the number is in Kingston JM. I knew immediately this is a SCAM

Alternate Phone # for this scam!!!

These people really scared my wife today. same scam but with a little twist. She said they called telling her we won $2mil and a new Benz. they would not take no for an answer when she tried to hang up. They even called back when she hung up. they told her to got a get a money card from CVS and they would be coming by to pick it up at 12:30. They also asked for her cell phone # so they could know when she got back from getting the money card. Naturally we called the police. The police have ben driving by every few minutes since then. The scammer called back to our house at precisely 12:30 (instead of coming by) and asked to speak to my wife. He wouldn't listen when i told him not to call back. I even threw a few not-so-nice words his way. Didn't phase him. he just calmly kept asking to speak to my wife. I hung up on him and yes, he called back. it was from this # 876.573.2978. Here is the genius, they blocked me from being able to call them back from my house # that they called me on but I was able to call them back from another company phone that is not registered to anyone in particular so they have no idea who called them back. They answered "uh, hello". I said someone had called me from that number and asked who they were and they said "Uh..Uhh.... International clearing house" I hung up on the and they tried to cal back 3 times in 3 minutes. Yes, a scam run by idiots.

876=573-2978

I have been getting calls from that number! Thanks for the info!!

Area Code 876 Is Jamaican Phone Scam

This is my 2nd post on this .... have been getting regular calls from 876 area code (Jamaica) for approx the last 1 1/2 months+, we haven't spoken to him/them, he/they've left a few messages claiming big money winnings, many times he/they don't leave a msg, anyway, thank goodness we've got caller ID, we didn't track the numbers from the beginning, however they seem to be endless ..... we've so far gotten the calls from at least 12 different 876 phone #'s, have blocked them, but it does little good as they have a seemingly endless supply ..... IMO it's more about the Jamaican 876 area code than the specific phone number(s).

Have been doing a little research on this subject and it's apparently A BIG BUSINESS $$$ in Jamaica that's been going on for several yrs now ..... a BIG money maker for the scum that participate in these crimes ..... here's one example from a recent Massachusetts news article dated April 25, 2011 that chronicles one elderly woman's experience:

One local woman recently contacted police to report a possible fraud. It turns out, the elderly woman was a likely victim of an elaborate fraud that, over the past 18 months, bilked her out of about $40,000, according to police. On April 12, the alleged victim contacted police, saying she became suspicious she was the victim of a scam after the person on the other end of the phone threatened to kill her if she did not send a large amount of money via Western Union. This, according to police, was likely the parting shot of a three-part scam that began a year-and-a-half ago.

The scam allegedly started with a phone call claiming the woman won $1 million, and she would get her money if she sent $200, via Western Union. The next call upped the ante to $500, then $1,000. And so it went, on a weekly basis, until Thanksgiving, when the woman became suspicious after wiring $20,000, police said.

Then came the calls from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, or so the caller claimed. Police said the woman reported receiving calls from someone claming to be investigating the prior scam for the FBI, but the Bureau needed her to send them money so they could access her accounts and recoup her lost funds.

The police report did not provide specific amounts the woman sent to what she believed was the FBI -- again via Western Union, often to somewhere in Jamaica -- but it did say the amounts grew larger until April 12, when she called police after the alleged scam artists resorted to outright threats.

Police to Residents: Be Wary of Scams ..... be wary of offers that appear too good to be true ..... if you have to send money via western union etc before receiving winnings ---> it's most likely a scam ..... don't call the 876 # as you'll probably get a hefty phone bill for calling international - the scammers probably get a portion of it.

Unfortunately, this and similar scams are going on all across this country and their favorite targets seem to be elderly folks ..... from another article in a Jamaican news source dated April 16th 2011 it claims: "A STAGGERING RISE in financial crime has forced the Royal Barbados Police Force to expand the squad probing those cases and also seek foreign help"

Warn friends, neighbors and relatives of the 876 Jamaican phone scam(s) ..... especially the elderly ..... consider contacting your local news paper or tv station and ask them to do a story on the subject - to let everyone know.

I'm jamaican and got screwed!

I love god just as much as I love my daughters but one thing I can't stand is people who don't care about those who work hard and take care of their families looking for a way out. With this in mind the offer of millions is temting. I was garunteed a new care and 16.5 million and thought it was my golden ticket. Little did I know I was being comfortably robbed by the same swine of my own families land. You see a (876) # "Tell dem fi gway!". This is nothing but bad new for the hard workers in america that only work so hard because of the dream of one day being finacialy set for life. Just imagine, $100 in jamaica is just over $8,000 in some parts. Now depending on how much you have sent let this be a visual lesson that I had to lean by watching my dreams crumble befor my eyes. FUCK JAMAICAN AND OFF SHORE BANKING! Now I have to take whats left of my pride and money and create a better one for my girls. I prey for those who tresspass against aman of god for he will deal with them on his own terms. Good luck brothers and sister.

another number

my husband got a call today from this company. They asked for another person and I husband said you have the wrong number the man asked who he was speaking with. My husband said his name and the man says "congrats you have just won the lottery. You won $1.2 million." Before the man could say anything else my husband tells him he is a piece of shit and hes not falling for whatever scam he was pulling and the guy hung up. He called from 269-282-8913 and had an accent.

New Number: 1-876-374-5987

(April 28, 2011: just before 1:30 pm) I just had a conversation, same thing, I won $500,000 and needed to go to Walmart to get a $300 money order so that they could transfer the check I won to me successfully; I needed to get some type of stamp so it would be legal in the US. They were going to come to my house right away with the check so I better hurry up and head to Walmart now. I told her I can't, I need to go to work and will not be home. "WHY?!" she said (it was a woman, she called herself "Stracey Jackson," and spoke with a Jamaican (or similar sounding) accent. She got angry with me. So as of right now, supposedly, these guys are headed over to my house and the did have my name and address, though from where I do not know. I got angry back at her; eventually i was yelling "bullsh*t" in reply, letting her know I didn't like where this is going. She called back leaving me a message, letting me know we could work this out and that I need to call back right away.
I am considering calling her back after calling the police, letting them know the story, but I think it's better just left alone. But then I decided to google it and found this website. I thought it might be another story you may want to use as well as another phone number (1-876-374-5987). Let me know if there is anything I can do to help catch these guys.

Murder Threat 1-876-440-6994

This is day 6 into my journey with James Jefferson, General Mangager of Publisher's Clearing House (bullshit!), who has called back as the US Marshall, Walter Naviged (he pronounced Navigate, but that is the spelling he gave me), sargent. Also, talked to me as his "son". Wanted me to send cash overnight express mail to JOSIE DRURY 553597 US HWY 1 HILLIARD, FLORIDA 32046. It started as $1,085 (which I sent him a letter instead of money), then wanted $3500, then $15000, then $10685, then $29,000, & finally $8,000. I gave him bogus receipt numbers, as my "duty" was to put the cash in envelope, mail overnight express mail to the above address, get receipt & he'd call back for the numbaers. This was entertaining in the begining because this person was so stupid! As if I couldn't google who the GM of PCH was or how they receive their prizes!!!! Dumbass. I knew it was a scam but honestly wanted the $5.5 million & white mercedes to be true! This is rediculous though. He has gone from the scammer, to wanting to meet, date, have sex & kids & marry to I am a murderer & have killed 17 people & don't know how many I have injured, I will murder you & your kids for fucking around with me. Pretty scarry. I wasn't concerned @ day 2 or even 3, but when I talked to my ex-husband about what was going on, he was pissed & said I should be scared (this was 2 days prior to the murder threats), which at the time I wasn't, but now, I am like SOB! They can't possibly get to me??? Can they???? I was doing this as a f*** you, jokes on you A**H***!!! But now I know that was NOT a good idea. Best not to lead them on & get into trouble where trouble is not necessary. I have reported this to the Federal Trade Commission. Not sure if a report to the local police will even be worth it, but I have thought I would mail in my situation on paper. Anyone else with a murder threat???

Has anyone ever read about Morehu Kawana, aka Kawana Morehu, aka Gov. , Rev. ?
I googled Kawana Morehu and came up with some interesting things. My mother who I have written about before was with the Jamaican scammers and also receives letters from Gov. Morehu Kawana (nickname, Gavin). Anyone heard of him?

It must suck to have such a horrible life that you have to try and steal peoples hard earned money. I seriously want to choke this guy- he wont stop! I have cussed him out, screwed around with his head, said mean stuff, they dont care they call right back. My phone is ringing right now as I'm typing! How did they get my number? They even know the general area that I live in....

Answer the calls, put reciever down then let them talk to themse

Answer the calls, put reciever down then let them talk to themseves.
When they hang up hang up. Do this over and over again. They have to pay for the calls and it will stop.... This will take a few days.

Craig/David is 42 years old and in love with my 75 year old mom

For the past 2 years my mom had told me that she had been receiving calls from a "Craig". She said he was 42 years old and he lived in Las Vegas. It turns out that this Craig guy (he told her that his real name is David) is a Jamaican scammer. I don't know everything, because she tells me that she can't say anything, but I do know that she has picked up packages for him and has turned around and mailed them. She won't tell me where she picks up the packages or where she sends them. I do know that she is completely broke. I believe that she has been forwarding them her own money too in the hopes of getting her prize money. She is completely irrational about the situation. I showed her this blog and videos on u-tube exposing the scammers and she still says that Craig is a good person. She has had $900 phone bills and has called this person more than 20 times a day or more. I most recently got a hold of her phone and found 876-299-9044. This is the A-H**** that she has been talking to.

She is supposed to be moving out of state, but has told me that she will not leave until she gets her money. "They" called her and said that the money truck would be delivering her money. That was at the end of March. Now "they" are saying that she will receive it by the end of April. I told her that if anyone delivers money to her that it is dirty money and she should not accept it. But, I know that she will NEVER receive any money, because these A-H***S are scammers and are just trying to keep her sending them money and being a mule. Where the hell is our federal government? If we can find Saddam in a cave, why the hell can't we find these Jamaican SOB's?

Re: 75 Year Old Mom

My 85 year old dad has been embroiled in one of these scams for over three and a half years. After our family took legal action and seized control of my father's assets, these slime buckets turned him into a money mule. Like your mom, he is receiving payments from other victims and forwarding all or a portion of the proceeds to the fraudsters, because he has been promised that by doing so he will finally receive the bogus multi-million dollar prize they've been dangling like a carrot in front of a donkey.

You might not want to hear this, but your mother's behavior and irrational thinking are telltale signs that, like my dad, your mother is impaired and in need of a guardian. Take it from someone who has already been where you are: She is a goner. I strongly recommend that you contact an Elder Law attorney ASAP and see about petitioning the court to hire a conservator, like our family did. Fail to do so, and your mother is at risk losing everything. With all due respect to your persistence and powers of persuasion, trust me when I say that nothing you say or do is going to change her mind at this point, as Craig/David has her complete confidence. They don't call subhumans of his ilk "con men" for nothing.

My heart goes out to you. Best of luck, and fight on!

google it

Type that phone number into google and click onto the first thing that pops up. Its a map and it shows you exactly where the phone calls are coming from. Show it to your mom, she's going to end up broke or in jail she needs to stop now. These people will ruin your life!!

I think your mom can get into

I think your mom can get into trouble if she gets caught with those packages. Who knows whats in them? Probably drugs or stolen money! I hope you can talk some sense into her!

A man called at about 9 this

A man called at about 9 this evening his "name" was bob wilson. I couldn't understand a freaking word he was saying. This was the first call we've received so far and from what I've read it won't be the last. Great.

The Revenge Continued

This is my 3rd post. Seems my revenge is working. I got a call at 5:30AM this morning. I just opened the phone but didn't say anything. All I heard was a woman's voice saying hello... helllooo- hellllooooo. They called a couple of times during the morning but I didn't answer then I set the tone by answering and talking jibberish. They called again with an unavailable on my screen I answered but didn't say anything. This happened several times. Then this evening they called - I answered and talked jibberish. The guy on the other end went nuts when I asked him his name and he said Tom Wilson. He ask me what my name was and I said Tom Wilson. He stated using the F word and I laughed and said something to the effect that he was really stupid to keep paying to call me. He went on a tirade for about a minute and hung up. Haven't heard from them since. These guys really don't have a clue. I heard kids in the background so the calls must be coming from a home setting. Don't let them win ... answer and waste their time. My best time keeping them on the phone is 4 minutes 18 seconds. See if you can match it. Good Luck.

876 scammer calls- The Revenge

I posted last week and this is a follow up. I didn't answer for the first 10 days or so then I started answering and talking jibberish. For the last week I have been answering but only after the ring. I just wait....at first it was hello, hellooooo and then hellloooo. The calls which were 15+ a day are now down to 3 or 4. Yesterday NONE!! That was a relief!!! Anyway forget anybody doing anything , it won't happen. But I figure after a while they will notice that when they call me it's costing them money and really that's all this is about. So make 'em pay and have fun at it. Good Luck.

Jackson Law Firm Scam Sweepstakes

Next time they call me

i am going to three way 911 and tell them the man is trying to rob me lol!

Scam

My husband called me at work today saying I had received a call from Good Housekeeping that I had won 2.5 million. My husband told him I hadn't entered any contests and the man said that was not necessary. Come on SCAM written all over this. Didn't realize it was this bad until I read some of the messages left on here. Unfortunately, some people will fall for this. The number that called here was 876-397-2631

876 Jamaican phone scam #'s

Like most here, have also been receiving multiple calls per day over the last month or so, from a variety of 876#'s, in addition to blocked #'s, claiming to either have won big $$$ and/or be from a bank etc.

This has been VERY FRUSTRATING as we can see the Jamaican # and usually have let it go to the answering machine, sounds like the same guy calling (when a msg is left) with slightly different story's or names each time .... a few times I picked up and immediately disconnected the call without saying anything .... didn't do any good as they'd just keep calling, many times no msg has been left.

We've called local law enforcement and they say they receive complaints regularly about this sort of thing, but there's really nothing they can do - except take a report ..... the dispatcher suggested trying to block the calls, if possible, which we found out we could do, however, so far we've got 8 different 876#'s blocked (and counting) .... but they just keep calling with new 876#'s, or they'll block the number, which we currently accept calls from, but might have to reconsider.

While "googling" this 876 Jamaican scam stuff, I ran across the U.S. Federal Trade Commissions website that has an informative article titled "A JOLT from the Blue: Jamaican Fraudsters Using Telemarketing to Target U.S. Consumers" which has a # to call to voice complaints 1-877-382-4357 or visit the FTC website.

Here's a link (may have to copy/paste into the address bar of your browser) to the FTC's article/website for more info on this subject: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt148.shtm

Contacting your local newspaper or t.v. news and asking them to do a story on the subject might help get the word out about this and other "scams", "cons" & "frauds" etc ..... Seniors can be particularly vulnerable and need to be informed.

876 Scam Calls

Two weeks ago the 876 scammers were calling 15+times a day. Sometimes at 4:30am - I now shut my phone off at night. I didn't answer at first because I thought they would go away with the 3.2 million I won or the 2.4 million I won or the brand new mercedez I won. Well they didn't so here's how I get back at them..... I decided when I had time I would answer their calls and talk jibberish for as long as they would stay on. When I don't feel like it or have the time I randomly pick the phone up saying nothing and wait for them to figure out that the phone has been answered and listen to them say hello hello hellllooooo. I figure they get to pay for their abusive calls. I noticed the calls have slowed so as long as they call I will let them pay at their end since nothing seems to be able to be done. Just a thought.........

Fraud, Of Course!!

Why should I send money to receive money...this makes absolutely no sense. And these people call incessantly claiming to have my prize. They even call me "sweetie" and "honey", which is very unprofessional.

876 872 9134, and several others...BEWARE!!!!

I received a call from 876-895-1597, and the guy didn't even try to scam me with a lie, he just said "call me back in 5 minutes". I said, "Who are you and why the hell should I call you back"? He said his name was John and Hung up. Really, you can't even take the time to try to scam me with a decent lie.

Pathetic!

876 - Take Action and Stop the CALLS!

The econsumer.org web site is just the ticket to get these scammers off our backs.

Since the 876# number is not within the USA then, the econsumer.org web site would be the correct method to file a complaint against anyone or company which is outside the USA.

18765847271 UPS or phone scam?

I got a message and returned the call from this very slow speaking older guy which name I dont remember and said that I had a package from UPS to be delivered. and then as the story progressed he said that I needed to pick it up and the CVS, Walgreens or Walmart. I thought it must be some sort of prescription drugs or something but It just didnt make any sense. He kept me of the phone quite some time but dont know if this is related to a phone scam or what. I am going to call my phone company to see if I called internationally without knowing and how much this called cost me. Damn! I did hung up after seen that the call was not going anywhere and got frustrated so googled the area code and found this website. Its cool that we are able to discuss our experiences and prevent people from being robbed from time and money. Guys be careful there is a lot of bad people out there. Good luck.

They are international calls and cost a lot of money : ( sooo sad these jerks get money from unsuspecting people : (

SCAM SCAM SCAM - 876-485-8338

Here's another number 876-485-8338. A man with an accent called and told my mother-in-law that she had unclaimed million dollar prize. They gave the number to call to see what it was all about. The number was the New York Mega Millions Lottery office. They are persistent and called at least three times while I was there over a 15 minute period.

This person said they would send someone to the house and take them to the bank for verification and they that they were the winners and then sign a check over to her for the millions.

2.5 million dollar prize

My mother has been getting calls from a Jamaican man with an 876 number. He has gotten 2000 out of her between yesterday and today (that I know about). He told her that she has won a 2 and a half million dollar prize but that she has to send him money in order to claim the prize and cash the certified check. He said that the $ is for taxes and customs fees. Today he said he would come by at 10:30 AM but he didn't show up. He said unless she gives him another 1000 he can't give her the Mercedes he has for her. She has given him all the money in my Grandfather's bank account. She's mentally ill and isn't aware that she's being scammed. Now she is going to be homeless. I don't know what to do

Calls nonstop-but I mess with him everytime

He started calling early yesterday.. He called three times in a row and never left a voicemail, so I thought to myself "No worries".
Today he called around 15-20 times, all within 20 minutes. I was becoming more and more enraged because I couldn't focus on anything I was doing, so I picked up the phone. The man said I had a package waiting for me somewhere (It was hard to understand) and that I needed to recieve at as soon as possible or something. I then went on to tell him that you are a low life and you will never get anywhere in life because of your job, this REALLY pissed him off. He went on a complete rampage and told me he was going to come to my house and shoot me in the head. I questioned him and started laughing to try and piss him off even more. Such a fail, oh, and he also told me he was a govt. Official. LOL.

They connected her to Frank White. He told her she needed to get a moneygram from Wal-Mart for $2500.00. She interuppted them w/ "bring me the prize and then i'll pay." To think I just won 4.5 million dollars and all I had to do was go to a Western Union and mail them ONLY $850.00 for a tax stamp and then a State Trooper could verify the check on the UPS truck was real and they would deliver it to me the same day....WOW.....It is amazing that people fall for this...it is also sad that people prey on elderly people.

Incoming Jamaican UPS scam

Everyday including Sunday we receive at least 3 Jamaican phone calls.. 876-557-7303. They always ask for the same person, they use an actors name as their own.. like this last one was George Lopez haha! The message from them is always the same.. "Hi this is George Lopez from UPS, and we want to know if your going to be home in the next 15min to receieve a package?" I usually answer yes as I'm looking for more information to report them with. The next question they ask is, "do you have your Western Union made out ready for the UPS driver?" I say yes, they say we need the numbers off the money order so we can process your order" OK if this state had Western Union that might have worked. and if they haven't processed the order and the package is suppose to be delivered within 15min ummm "FISHY" Ok so finally after I get enough information on this person and the package that they never say what the contents are.. I tell them, ty for being patient I have enough information on you to report you to the UPS company and my local telephone company so that your number may be blocked in the future. This report is then sent to the Attorney Generals office as to where they will follow the right paths as to stop the scam that your all playing. They then are still trying to get me to understand this package is still available if I would just give them the numbers off the Western Union money order they will deliver the package.. SO the phone call ends in I am reporting them and they don't care lol

I couldn't believe it

Same story as most of the above, actually said it was winnings of 2,000,000 go to my cvs store purchase the card, and someone would go to the bank with me, RED FLAG.
