No more renewable energy credits, says the California Public Utilities Commission.
Like the fraudulent chumps who, this week, were convicted of perpetrating fraud against the People of California by redeeming recyclable goods smuggled in from out of the State, SDG&E and other Utilities will not be able to use energy credits from out of state to meet California requirements. The CPUC has ordered Utilities companies to stop using "renewable energy credits" instead of obtaining power from alternative sources, like the sun or wind.
This week, the CPUC reversed a previous decision that measures how SDG&E, and other Utilities, gauge the green power they purchase from outside California. The Public Utilities Commission voted 4-1 to "stop utilities from using “renewable energy credits,” most of which come from outside California, until it figures out a different way to deal with the issue."
SDG&E has used renewable energy credits in attempt to meet requirements that SDG&E provide 20% of their power from sources like the sun and wind.
The Governator and the Utilities contend that limiting out-of-state green credits would result in higher bills for the consumer. However, the CPUC agreed with the argument that jobs will be lost to other states if California does not require that a big share of "renewable energy" be generated by California solar systems and California wind turbines.
