RegisterFly domain registration and web hosting scam

UCAN recently received a complaint regarding the domain name registration and web hosting services of RegisterFly.com:

I used Registerfly.com to purchase my webname (xxxxxxx) and for service. When my name was due to be renewed in Dec. 06, I renewed it, twice, but it never showed renewed. Now my webname has been purchased by xxxxxx. Is there any way I can get my webaddress back?

Thanks, xxxx xxxxxx

RegisterFly was a somewhat reputable company a number of years ago, but in the past year or two their services have declined. The number of consumer complaints skyrocketed (read the horror stories at the falling bullets, or here, here, and here) and it appears that RegisterFly simply stopped renewing a large number of its customers' domains. This all culminated in ICANN's termination of RegisterFly's accreditation in March 2007.

Fear not RegisterFly customers! On May 29, 2007, GoDaddy.com announced that it will help RegisterFly by taking over more than 850,000 domain names. New GoDaddy.com customers can call a dedicated 24-hour hot line at (480) 366-3500 or visit www.godaddy.com/welcomeregisterfly for more info.

Yes you are right at pointing out that why your drivers license was previously ok and then all of a sudden after a particular raised problem it was not liked by them. Any way what happened next?

GoDaddy horror story

GoDaddy took over my RegisterFly registered domain neuronica.com
Then the horror started

It is unbelievable how the guys from GoDaddy's privacy department dealt with me.
I have a domain neuronica.com which was transfered to GoDaddy.com some times ago.
I have a customer logon id with goDaddy.com
One week ago I tried to renew my domain, ut was asked to pay for a privacy protection - a feature that I don't need and never bought from GoDaddy.
I was told by a customer representative that in order to renew w/o paying for privacy, I needed to go to my GoDaddy account and remove the privacy protection.
When I tried to do this I was asked for a domainsByProxy logon id, which was obviously different from my GoDaddy id.
I tried to retrieve it (by using the procedure listed on the website). The ID was supposed to be e-mailed to me but I have never received any e-mail from domainsByProxy.
I spoke again with a cust. representative and he told me that presumably I need to give you an e-mail address by filing out and faxing you a form.
I did this, but received an e-mail from the privacy department that my id was not readable.
Since I cannot control the quality of your faxes I e-mailed you a scanned copy of my id.
I again received the standard answer that it was not readable
I asked them more than 10 times what exactly in the Id is not readable and I again received the standard answer that the id was not readable
I called today again and after nearly an hour spent on the phone, the cust. representative told me that they told him that the privacy department didn't like my scanned picture and wanted a better picture.
Well - several months ago, when I needed to get a goDaddy logon id, I scanned and sent them my drivers license and back then exactly the same scanned picture was good enough.
You can double check that I sent you the same scan and it worked.
I don't see why the same scan of the same id does not work now for another department of the same company.
This madness is going on for one week
