Member Benefits

The benefits of UCAN membership

UCAN members feel a strong sense of satisfaction in seeing their very own local consumer group in the news fighting on their behalf.

1 Personal Help for San Diego County members: In the event of a dispute with your phone, electric, or cable TV company, UCAN’s staff will provide hands-on help resolving your utility complaint. Over the years our intervention efforts have returned hundreds of thousands of dollars in wrongful or disputed charges to San Diego consumers.

2
Priority Access to the Fraud Squad:
  UCAN Public Advocates have
saved individual members tens of thousands of dollars in questionable or wrongful utility charges made by cellular companies, phone companies, and SDG&E (see our introductory video for examples). Do you have a complaint? Have you been ripped off or defrauded?  As a member, your consumer complaints go straight to front of the line. Often, we can offer help or a referral even if the complaint is not utility-related.

3 UCAN Watchdog Subscription:  Members receive four issues of UCAN's acclaimed Watchdog Newsletter (published quarterly).

4 Personal Satisfaction:  As a member, you will be supporting the single most effective utility watchdog group of its kind in the USA. With your support, we will put a stop to the ongoing abuse of utility consumers in Southern California and continue the fight for lower electric rates, phone bills, gasoline prices, cable TV rates, and privacy protection.

5 Tax deductible:  UCAN is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit.  Membership in UCAN is tax-deductible under IRS guidelines. Consult your tax professional for details.
