GAS PRICES: Analyst says fill 'er up, and fill 'er up fast

Gas prices soaring this weekend

North County Times Brad Fikes

North San Diego County gas prices are skyrocketing this weekend, so if your vehicle needs more, get it ASAP. That's the warning from the North County Times' ace gas price tracker, Charles Langley.

"We expect to see a 5 to 11 cent jump by Monday, with prices going up an average of a penny every 12 hours in North County," Langley said.

Regular unleaded in North County cost an average of $2.68 per gallon on Thursday, according to Langley's gas price survey for the North County Times. Diesel cost an average of $2.50 per gallon.

"This week will be a real tank-spanker. The more you delay, the more you will pay," said Langley, a consumer advocate for the Utility Consumers' Action Network, a San Diego-based consumer watchdog group.

In Oceanside, the lowest price for regular unleaded was $2.599 per gallon, at the Mohsen's stations on Coast Highway at Wisconsin and on Mission Avenue at Airport Road.

In Escondido, the lowest price was $2.609 per gallon, at the Exxon at Escondido Avenue at 3rd Street and on Mission Avenue at Broadway.
